    Notes:

    Fredrich 'Fritz' A. Wurl, age 94, formerly of Wheatfield, was called to his heavenly home on January 13, 2016 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence. Born August 27, 1921 in the Town of Wheatfield, son of the late Fredrich and Josephine (Koble) Wurl.

    He served in the Air Force 1942-1945, and was a charter member of the American Legion Wheatfield Post 1451. He operated the former Fritz's Collision, located on Ward Road until his retirement. Fritz was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda and enjoyed watching the Buffalo Sabres and playing cards.

    Survivors include a son, Dennis (Edele) Wurl; and daughter, Kathleen (Stephen) Keller both of Wheatfield; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 71 years, Betty J. Wurl, on April 4, 2014; a son, Thomas Wurl; two brothers, Wilmer and Lester Wurl; and a sister, Mildred Schultz.

    Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, January 23 at 11 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 453 Old Falls Blvd., North Tonawanda. Interment will be in White Chapel Memorial Park. There is no prior visitation.

    Memorial contributions may be made to the church.

    Arrangements were with the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME.

    LEWISTON - Betty Jane Wurl, an extraordinary cook and seamstress, was called to her heavenly home on Friday (April 4, 2014) in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Home, Lewiston, following a lengthy illness. She was 89.

    The former Betty Fritz was born in North Tonawanda to Walter and Leona Fritz and was a graduate of North Tonawanda High School.

    Mrs. Wurl was well-known as a cook in the Wheatfield area and was famous for her pork chops and German potato salad. She also enjoyed crocheting, quilting and sewing.

    Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Fred "Fritz" Wurl of Lewiston; a son, Dennis (Edele) of Wheatfield; a daughter, Kathleen (Stephen) Keller of Wheatfield; a brother, Gordon Fritz of Buffalo; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Thomas Wurl.

    There will be no prior visitation. A memorial service will take place at 11 AM Saturday (4/12/14) in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 453 Old Falls Blvd., North Tonawanda. Interment will be in White Chapel Memorial Park, North Tonawanda. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be sent to St. Paul Lutheran Church. Arrangements were with the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME (731-3234).

    Edna M. (Pfuhl) Wienke, 89. of Heritage Manor of Niagara Falls, formerly of Sanborn, died Saturday (Dec. 2,1995), in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.
    She was born on Feb. 12,1916, in 'Wheatfield, the daughter of Albert. and Ida (Haseley) ,Pfuhl. On Nov 8, 1929, she married Clarence E. Wienke. He died in January 1979
    A lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. In Wheatfield, Mrs. Wienke was, active in the Women of the Church. She was a member of the Sanbornite Senior Citizens and did volunteer work at local nursing homes.
    She enjoyed family life.
    Mrs. Wienke is survived by two sons, Leonard Wienke of Sanborn and Wilfred Wienke of Morgantown, W.Va.; a daughter, Edele Wurl of Sanborn, seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews.
    She was the sister of the late Albert Pfuhl and Martin Pfuhl.
    Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the DuBois Funeral Home 2436 Niagara Road. Service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in St. Peter Lutheran Church, Walmore Road, Wheatfield. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield . Memorials may be made to the church.

    The former Edna Pfuhl, 89, died Saturday (Dec. 2, 1995) in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.
    The former Sanborn resident was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Women of the Church.
    Her husband, Clarence E., died in 1979.
    Survivors include two sons, Leonard of Sanborn and Wilfred of Morgantown, WV; a daughter, Edele Wurl of Sanborn; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

    A pretty wedding was solemnised
    at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Herman
    Broecker in Monroe street at 5 o'clock
    Saturday afternoon, when their
    daughter, Miss Leona Broecker, became
    the hride of Mr. Walter Fritz.
    Rev. Paul Fretthold of St. Mark's
    Lutheran church officiated. The
    bride wore a white georgette gown
    and a veil caught with orange blos-
    soms and carried a bridal bouquet of
    roses. She was attended by Miss Elanor
    Broecker as bridesmaid, who
    wore a light green organdie gown
    and carried a bouquet of sweet peas.
    Mr. Norman Fritz, brother of the

He was born in Stateen, Germany, and came to this country and the Town of Wheatfield at the age of four. He moved to Sanborn in 1903. He operated a farm on Saunders Settlement for most of his life prior to retiring. He was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore, and had served as a trustee of the church. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau.
    Survivors include two sons, Walter A. and Clarence E. of Sanborn; one daughter, Mrs. Hubert (Hilda) Ferchen, Wheatfield; one brother, Reinhard Wienke, Wheatfield; three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Jagow of Niagara Falls, Mrs. Emma Haseley and Mrs. Esther Moll, both of Wheatfield, and five grandchildren. He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. John Crilley officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the Rhoney Funeral Home, Sanborn, from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.     Mrs. Bertha Wienke
    SANBORN-Mrs. Bertha A. Wienke, 83, of 2652 Saunders Settlement Road; died unexpectedly at her home Monday (Jun.12, 1967) after suffering a heart attack. She had been in ill health for the last year.
    Born in the Town of Lewiston March 20, 1884, she was the daughter of August and Auguste Hellert Haseley. She had been a resident at the Saunders Settlement address for the last 56 years. She was a lifelong member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Walmore.
    Survivors include her husband, Adolph; two sons, Walter A. and Clarence E. Wienke, both of Sanborn; a daughter, Mrs. Hubert (Hilda) Ferchen, Niagara Falls, and a brother, Edward Hasley (sic) Niagara Falls; also five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Service's will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday a St. Peter's Church. The Rev. Alfred W. Walck officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.

    Walmore Farmer Called by Death
    WALMORE, May 12.-Albert A. Pfuhl, 57 years old, well known farmer, died yesterday at the family home here. Funeral services will be held from the home Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, standard time, and at 2:30 from St. Peter's Lutheran church, Walmore. Interment will be in Walmore cemetery. Mr. Pfuhl was born on a farm within a half mile of the place where he died and had resided here all his life.     Lockport Road Man Laid to His Final Rest in Walmore Cemetery.
    SANBORN, May 16-Funeral services for Albert A. Pfuhl, aged 57, who died at his home on the Lockport Road on May 11, were held from the home on Sunday at 2 P. M. and from St. Peter's church at 2:30. The bearers were Erich J. Haseley. William DeVantier, Elmer Kroening, William Kroening, Jr., Sigmund Pfuhl, Herbert Pfuhl. Flower bearers were: Erwin Pfuhl Max Pfuhl, Max Haseley, Erwin Walck, Herbert Jagow, Herbert Ferchen, Alfred Haseley, Rudolph Walck, Chester Haseley. Service was conducted by Rev. Edward A. Graubau (sic) and Rev. Alfred Walck, of St. Paul, MN Burial was at Walmore cemetery.

    PFOHL - In DeVeaux Manor August 16, 1971. Ida Pfohl of 2638 Saunders Settlement Rd. Sanborn, Mother of Mr. Clarence (Edna) Wienke, Martin Pfohl, both of Sanborn, Albert Pfuhl, Niagara Falls. Also surviving 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at St. Peter's, Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore, with the Rev. Carl F. Duwe officiating. Interment in St. Peters Lutheran Cemetery. The family will be present at the Pike and Jones Funeral Home, Inc., Hoover Rd. Sanborn from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.
