    The marriage of Miss Doris Furry,
    daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O.E.
    Furry, of Whitney avenue, and Mr.
    Paul W. Shafer, son of Mr. and Mrs.
    William Shafer, of 1322 Maple ave-
    nue, was solemnized Saturday, Sep-
    tember 14, at 1 o'clock in the Zion
    Lutheran church, with the pastor
    of the church, the Rev. Arthur H.
    Schmoyer, D.D., officiating
    Preceding the ceremony, Mr.
    Henry Neff sand "O Promise Me"
    and "Where'er You Walk" with
    Miss Olive Sutherland accompanist
    at the organ.
    The bride wore a floor-length
    gown the skirt of golf taffeta fash-
    ioned full, with matching velvet fit-
    ted bodice and turban. Her corsage
    was of Tallsman roses and pom
    poms.
    Miss Betty Furry, sister of the
    bride and her only attendant, was
    lovely in her down of sapphire blue
    velvet, fashioned with matching net
    bodice top. With this she wore a
    corsage of Jack Lillies.
    Mr. Maurice St. Denny was the
    best man.
    a reception was held after the
    service at the home of the bride's
    parents. The mother of the bride
    wore a gown of black, with corsage
    of gardenias, and the mother of the
    bridegroom wore a crepe gown of
    wine shade, with black accessories.
    After a motor trip through the
    South, Mr. and Mrs. Shafer will
    reside at 626 Twenty-ninth street.

    Falls Man, 59, Dies
    After Brief Illness
    . William J. Shafer. 59. of
    Maple avenue, died last night at his
    home after a brief illness. Born In
    the Town of Niagara, he had lived
    here all his life. He was employed
    by the Certalnteed Products corporation.
    Surviving are his wife, Annetta
    H. Sharer, and one son, Paul W„
    both of this city; two daughters,
    Mrs. Alice Peterson. Minneapolis.
    Minn., and Mrs. Rhlta Florey, Den-
    ver. Colo.; three brothers and one
    sister, Roy W., Lawrence R, and
    Carl J. Shafer and Mrs. Arthur
    Wittcopp. all of this city, and five
    grand-children.
    Mr. Shafer was a member of the
    brotherhood of Zlon Evangelical
    Lutheran church.
    The body will rest at the Home
    until noon Saturday. Funeral services
    will be held from Zion Evangelical
    Lutheran church. Michigan
    avenue and Tenth street, at 2 pm.
    Saturday, with the Rev. Arthur H.
    Schmoyer, D.D., officiating. Interment
    will be In Riverdale cemetery

    Mrs. Izgyl Houser Furry, 62, of. 1318 Whitney Ave, died Tuesday (Feb. 3, 1959) at Memorial Hospital after an illness of three months. She was the widow of Orville E. Furry. A native of Grimsby, Ont., Mrs. Furry lived in this city for 35 years and was,a member of St James Methodist Church here. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Paul W. Shafer, this city; Miss Gladys L. Furry, Schenectady; Mrs. Paul W. Melon, Tappan , and Mrs. James L. Gullett, Jamestown, and a son, Kenneth O. Furry, Schenectady. Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Stanley B. Sutton, Simcoe, Ont.; Mrs. Gordon L. Hale, St. Marys, Ont.; Mrs. Robert W. Becker, Tarrytown, and Mrs. William F. Melville, St. Catharines, Ont., and three brothers, Roy E. and Donald R. Houser, Lowbanks, Ont., W. Lloyd Houser, Port Colborne, Ont. Friends may call at the Redanz Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at St. James Methodist Church with the Rev. Chester Beebe officiating. Burial will be in Lowbanks.

    Widow of Pierson E. Tooker, Tries to
    Realize on High Powdered Guns
    —All in Perfect Condition,
    Oiled and Polished.
    BatavLa.—Attorney William E. Webster
    of Batavia, has been engaged by
    the widow to close the estate of Pierson
    E. Tooker, formerly of Batavia
    and before his death station agent at
    Long wood. Tooker was 54 years old
    and besides his wife, is survived by
    eight children. The chie/ trouble
    will be to realize on Mr. Tooker's
    estate, which is all personal property,
    in the shape of high-powered rifles
    and revolvers, of which he had 175
    at the time of his death. There are
    75 revolvers. There are modern rifles
    that will kill. at a distance of over
    a mile and fine 44 caliber Colt revolvers.
    It is estimated that the arms
    are worth over $2,000. while Tooker
    left his family almost penniless.
    Tooker bad a mania for collecting
    firearms. All were kept In perfec;
    condition, oiled and polished and a
    record kept In a book of the condition
    of the arms. He was once arrested
    on suspicion that he had stolen the
    large supply of new firearms and, after
    the case against him was dropped,
    he brought suit for defamation of
    character and was awarded a verdict
    of $1,500. Too_ker was an expert
    telegrapher and before going to Longwood
    had been station agent at North
    Le Roy.

    Friend^ of HersoH E. Tooker,
    a Former Resident,
    Will Be Surprised to
    Learn of His Arrest on
    Serious Charge.
    A former resident of this city. Pierson
    E. Tooker, familiarly known here as
    "Birdie" Tooker, has been engaged In
    car robbery operations on a large scale
    at Longwood near Corfu. Tooker was
    placed under arrest on Tuesday afler
    noon on a charge, of robbing the cars
    of the New. York Central railroad.
    Enough miscellaneous material was
    found on ;his farm to stock a department
    store. The railroad detectives
    searched the Tooker premises and
    found cases of stationery, boots and
    shoes, a large number of rifles, shot
    guns and revolvers, perfumery, soaps
    and a large amount of miscellaneous
    merchandise. There was also found a
    number of car seals and a Sealer and
    the railway officials are of the opinion
    that Tooker broke open the cars ami
    after taking what suited his fancy resealed,
    the cars again.
    Tooker is. 45 years old and was born
    in this city, living at the corrner ot
    Fairfield Avenue and Tenth Street the
    greater part of his life, He was a telegraph
    operator and for a time worked
    In the employment of the Michigan
    Central railroad on the Canadian side
    of the river. He was also employed as
    an operator at the Falls Street station
    of the New York Central railroad: As
    near as can he ascertained. he removed
    from this city about ten years ago. He
    has been in the employment of the
    New York C e n t r a l a t Longwood for the
    past six years. His friends in this city
    will be greatly surprised to learn ot his
    thievng proclivities.
