    LOCKPORT — Jean Brauer, 85, of Lockport, entered into rest on April 12, 2013, after a brief stay at the very caring Niagara Hospice. Born in Lockport, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Frances (Moran) Zapp. She was predeceased by her four siblings, Harold Zapp, Bernard Zapp, Rosemary Glena and John Zapp.

    She was a beautiful, kind, giving, frugal woman who dedicated most of her life to her late husband of 61 years, Richard Harold Brauer. She loved spending time with their five children, 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She belonged to St. Mary's and St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Churches. She was a member of the Lockport Hospital Guild, Gathering Gals Bridge Club and Newfane Senior Citizens Golden Age Club. Jean was a great bid Pitch player, square dancer, excellent cook and loved canning fresh vegetables and fruit. Jean worked at the old Norway as a cashier, in the office of Bells IGA and Niagara Auto Body Shop, and various jobs at the Union-Sun & Journal.

    Jean is survived by her five children, Larry (Jackie) Brauer, Jeannine (John) Benoit of Lockport, Alan (Beverly) Brauer of South Carolina, Janet (Ted) Dudley and David (Sonya) Brauer, who both reside in Florida.

    Friends and family may call from 4-7 PM at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, in Lockport on Monday, April 15th. A memorial service will be held for all Tuesday, April 16th at 10 AM, at the funeral home, followed by a burial service at Glenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lockport Presbyterian Home or Hospice of Niagara County.

    Bride and attendants wore mar-
    quisette gown in the attractive cer-
    emony performed Saturday at 11
    o'clock in St. John's Church rec-
    tory, when Miss Jeanne Frances
    Zapp, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
    John Zapp, 372 Walnut St.,, became
    the bride of Richard Harold Brauer
    son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Brauer
    of West Jackson Street, the Rev.
    Francis A. Clancy, DD, pastor, per-
    forming the ceremony.
    The bride,, given in marriage by
    her father,, wore white marquisette
    with an off-shoulder satin appliqued
    collar and appliqued skirt. The bod-
    ice was fashioned with a point at
    the waist, shadow neckline and leg-
    o-mutton sleeves. Her finger-tip
    length tiered veil fell from a tiara
    of orange blossoms and she carried
    white carnations centered with gar-
    denias. She wore three strands of
    pearls, gift of the bridegroom.
    RAINBOW COLORS
    Attendants gowns were in pastel
    color with fitted bodies, sweet-
    heart necklines and full skirts. Miss
    Rose Mary Zapp, sister of the bride
    and maid of honor, wore yellow
    and Mrs. Russell Ogden and Miss
    Elinor Miller, of Rochester, sister
    of the bridegroom, who acted as
    bridesmaids, wore rose and laven-
    der. Miss Zapp carried pink cra-
    nations and the bridesmaids, yel-
    low. All wore tiaras of carnations
    matching their bouquet.
    Robert Ladd of Gasport was best
    man.
    Mrs. Zapp, mother of the bride,
    wore a powder blue print dress and
    Mrs. Brauer wore a navy print.
    Both wore corsages of red roses.
    Vases of Sping flowers decorated
    the rectory. A wedding breakfast
    was served to 25 following the cere-
    mony, after which a reception to
    200 guests was held in the Park
    Hotel. A four-tiered wedding cake
    topped with a miniature bride and
    groom centered he bridal table.
    WEDDING TRIP
    The couple left for a motor trip
    to Philadelphia and Atlantic City,
    the bride wearing a rainbow striped
    dress with a gray coat,"white accessories
    and a corsage of white
    roses and carnations. They will
    make their home at 89 Pine St.
    Out-of-town wedding guests were
    from Ravenna, O.,, Buffalo, Canada,
    Chicago, Olcott,, Rochester and New-
    fane.
    Both bride and bridegroom are
    graduated of Lockport High School.
    The bridegroom served for two
    years with the U. S. Navy.
    Pre-nuptial showers included a
    red and white kitchen shower given
    by Miss Elinor Miller at her home,
    West Jackson Sttreet; a variety
    shower given by Mrs.. Russel Og-
    den and Miss Rose Mary Zapp at
    the home of the bride's parents
    and a linen shower given by Mrs.
    Lloyd Helwig and Mrs. John Rich-
    ards at 20 John St.

    Memorial Hospital after a
    10-day illness.
    He was John Zapp Sr.,
    of 372 Walnut St., a retired
    employe of the Harrison
    Radiator Division of General
    Motors.
    Prior to his employment
    at Harrison, he worked for
    the Western Block Co. and
    had been a salesman of
    household products.
    He was a member of the
    Holy Name Society of St.
    John's Church.
    He was the husband of
    the late Frances E. Moran
    Zapp.
    Surviving are three sons,
    Rernard and John Zapp
    Jr.. both of Lockport. and
    Harold Zapp. of Ridgewood;
    two d a u g h t e r s , Mrs.
    Richard Brauer and Mrs.
    Carlos Glenna. both of
    Lockport: a sister, Mrs.
    Myron Sandford. and two
    brothers. Leo and George
    Zapp, all of Lockport, and
    13 grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be
    held at 8:30 am. Wednesday
    at the Kennedy Funeral
    Home and at A a.m. al St.
    John's Church,
    Rurial will be. In St.'
    Patrick's Cemetery.

    LOCKPORT, July 17. - Mrs.
    John P. Zapp, 83, of 399 East
    Union street, died last evening
    at her home. Born in Germany,
    Mrs. Zapp came to this, country
    whea a girl, locating in this city.
    She was a member of Si. Mary's
    church and its Altar and Rosary
    society.
    Surviving are three daughters,
    Mrs. Elizabeth Sullivan, vAstoria,
    Long Island, Mrs. Albert Nagel
    and Mrs. Myron Sanford, both of
    this city; three sons, John, George
    and Leo, all of Lockport, and a
    brother, George Anna, Lockport.
    Services will be held Monday at
    8:30 a.m. at the Gaul Funeral home
    and at" 9 o'clock" at St." Mary's
    church. Interment will be in St.
    Mary's cemetery.
