TOWN OF CAMBRIA — LeRoy W. Zastrow, age 82, of the Town of Cambria, died Sunday, October 23, 2011, in Niagara Hospice House in Lockport.

LeRoy was born October 24, 1928 in the Town of Cambria, the son of the late Charles and Arlene (Jacobs) Zastrow. He was a lifelong resident of Cambria, until his declining health made it necessary for him to reside at the Odd Fellow & Rebekah Health Center in Lockport these past few months. LeRoy was a Heavy Equipment Operator, employed by the Town of Cambria Highway Dept. for 30 years, retiring in 1984.

He was a member of Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church in Newfane, the Cambria Volunteer Fire Co. and Exempt Member, the Wilson Conservation Club and the Newfane Senior Citizens, with whom he enjoyed traveling.

LeRoy married Eleanor “Ellie” M. Tompkins on August 30, 1947. Ellie predeceased him on July 13, 2003. He is survived by his children, Michael W. (Terry) Zastrow, Terry Zastrow, Penny (Ed) Dysard and Judy (David) St. Onge, all of the Town of Cambria; two sisters, Rose Kroening of Pekin and Doris Tudor of Orange Co., NY; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by three brothers, Chester, Robert and Willard Zastrow.

Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Tuesday, October 25 from 4-8 PM. Funeral services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094, or to the Cambria Volunteer Fire Co., 4631 Cambria Wilson Rd., Lockport, NY 14094.

ZASTROW-At the home on Niagara Falls Boulevard, Town of Wheatfield, Feb 16th, Fred W. Zastrow, Sr., husband of Rose Huebner, father of Fred, Jr., Charles Edward, Albert, Herbert and William, all of Wheatfield, Benjamin and Mrs. Christ (sic) Jeanecke, Jr., of East Wilson, brother of August Zastrow of East Wilson and Mrs. August Zielim (sic) of Bergholz. Funeral services will be held from the home Saturday at 2 o'clock and 2.30 from St. John's church, St. Johnsburg, Rev. Walter Thiemecke officiating. Interment in St. John's cemetery.

The funeral services for Mrs. Rose
Zastrow (nee Huebner) were held
Friday afternoon from the home on
the Buffalo-Niagara' Falls boulevard
at 2:30 o'clock and half an hour later
from St. John's church on the Ward
road. The Rev. Walter Thiemecker
officiated. Burial was in St, John's
cemetery.

William Jacobs was delightfully surprised
on Sunday, the occasion being
his fiftieth birthday. Friends and relatives
were present from Niagara -Falls.
Lewiston. Lockport. Ransomville,
Youngstown. Tonawanda and North
Ridge. The oldest guest was his mother,
Mrs. Minnie Jacobs of Lewiston,
who Is 82 years eld. The youngest one
present was a grand-son. Le Roy Zastrow,
aged two years, of Martinsville.

A most delicious supper was served
to the 52 guests from a beautiful apipolnted
table decorated In pink and
white with a bounteous birthday cake
as a center-piece.
Mr. Jacobs received many beautiful
and useful gifts. After a pleasant
evening the guests departed wishing
ihelr host many more happy birthdays.
