    WHEATFIELD - Melvin J. Reitsch, 86, of Wheatfield, Sunday (June 12, 2011) at home, after a lengthy Illness. Mr. Reitsch was born in North Tonawanda on February 24, 1925 to August and Christine (McNeil) Reitsch. Melvin was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and the Merchant Marines. He retired from Remington Rand and later Western Block. He was a member of the UAW, Sutherland Lodge, Stephen Sikora Post #1322. Melvin is survived by his wife of 59 years, Donna Rae (Rees) Reitsch; father of Darla Rae (Anthony) Minonno; brother of the late Vivian Eagan, Chet and Louie Reitsch and Ardith Lane; grandfather of Anthony (Marisa) and Gregory (Heather) Minonno; great-grandfather of Alexander, Chloe, Alisa, Laura and Christopher; also surviving are several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date from Acacia Park Cemetery, Pendleton, NY. Arrangements by Wattengel Funeral Home.

Mrs. Reitsch was born in Keating, Pennsylvania on February 5, 1928 to Asa and Mertie (Blakeslee) Ress. Mrs. Reitsch was predeceased by her husband Melvin J. Reitsch who died in 2011. Donna is survived by her daughter Darla Rae (Anthony) Minonno, sister of Dana Rees, grandmother of Anthony (Marisa), III, and Gregory (Heather) Minonno, great grandmother of Alexander, Chloe, Alisa, Laura, and Christopher, also surviving are many nieces and nephews.     REITSCH - Christine R. Reitsch of Tonawanda entered into rest on Friday (April 11, 1980) at DeGraff Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Reitsch was a member of the Salvation Army Golden Agers. Beloved wife of the late August H. Reitsch, dearest mother of Mrs. Edward (Vivian) Eagan, Chester (Catherine) Reitsch, Lewis (Helen) Rietsch, Melvin (Donna) Reitsch, and Mrs. Ardith R. Lane, all of the Tonawandas. Seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great greatgrandchild also survive. Friends may call Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Creasey Memorial Chapel Inc., 138 Delaware Street, Tonawanda, where private services will take place Sunday at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Lee Ohrum will officiate. Interment in Elmlawn Cemetery.

    Funeral services for Asa E. Rees. 73, a former resident of North Tonawanda, who died Saturday night in Olean General Hospital, were conducted yesterday at Port Allegany, Pa. Mr. Rees lived in North Tonawanda for many years and was employed by Bell Aircraft and later by the International Paper Co. He is survived by his wife, the former Mertie Blakeslee; four sons, Lyle of Smethport, Pa., Wayne and Vernon of North Tonawanda, and Dana Rees of Tonawanda, and three daughters, Miss Wava Rees of Smethport and Mrs. Donna Reitsch and Mrs. Delia Kirschner of North Tonawanda

She is survived by four sons, Lyle A. (Helen) Rees, Smethport, Pa., Wayne C. (Mary) Rees, Vernon G. (Ruth) Rees and Dana L. Rees, all of North Tonawanda; three daughters. Miss Wava M. Rees, Mrs. Melvin J. (Donna) Reitsch and Mrs. Rudolph D. (Delia) Kirschner, all of North Tonawanda. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family will be present from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Sweitzer Funeral Home in Port Allegany, Pa., where services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday.     Mrs. Delia Blakeslee, seventy-six,
    widow of Curtis Blakeslee, died at
    11:30 p. m. Saturday at the home of
    her son Floyd Blakeslee, in Sullivan
    Hollow. She had been ill for the past
    four weeks.
    Mrs. Blakeslee had lived in Salamanca
    about nine years and In the
    town of Great Valley for the past
    seven years.
    Besides her son, Floyd, she is survived
    by a daughter, Mrs. A. E. Rees
    of Smethport, Pa.: thirteen grandchildren;
    one great grandchild; a
    brother, Ernest Rasey of Corry, Pa.
    and several nieces and nephews.
    Mrs. Blakeslee was a former resi-
    dent of Portville.
