Eleanor (Ziehl) Szeliga, a longtime resident of Niagara Falls, died on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 in Mount St. Mary's Hospital. She was born in North Tonawanda on November 19, 1934, the daughter of the late Walter and Alice (Wurl) Ziehl. She attended and graduated from North Tonawanda High Schools.
Ms. Szeliga was employed as a waitress at several local establishments including Old Greenwalls Restaurant, Dunkin Donuts and the former Country Kitchen. She loved to camp, play bingo and feed the many squirrels that greeted her every day at her door.
She is survived by her children, Cynthia (Dennis) Weber of Niagara Falls, Anthony Szeliga of Lockport, Larry (Joanne) Szeliga of Niagara Falls, Thomas Szeliga of Niagara Falls, Mary (Andrew) Kisiel of Lewiston; her daughter-in-law, Joanne Szeliga of Oregon; a sister, Lois Ziehm of North Tonawanda; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her dear friend, Adolph DeMartin and children, Martin Szeliga, Marcia Cavagnaro, Chester and Timothy Szeliga; and a granddaughter, Tiffany Bootes.
The family will be present on Saturday from 2-6 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, where funeral services will be held on Sunday at 1 PM with Deacon David Slish officiating. Interment will be private in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.

Vases filled with white flowers on the altar of St
Paul's Lutheran Church formed the background Feb. 19,
at 4 p.m. for the marriage of Miss Eleanor Ruth Ziehl,
daughter of Mrs. Walter Ziehl of Klemer Rd. and the late'
Mr. Ziehl, to Chester Szeliga, son of Mrs. Angefine Szeliga
of Ironton St. Family pews in the church were marked;
with white satin ribbon.
The Rev. F. A. Hinners offi-
ciated. Arnold Nuoffer gave a half
hour program before the service
and played the traditional wedding
marches, Albert Stolzenburg sand
"0 Perfect Love," and "The 23rd
Psalm."
Given in marriage by her brother,
Andrew W. Ziehl, the bride
wore a gown made of pure silk
sent as a gift to her by her brother,
Cpl. Robert E. Ziehl now serving
in Japan. The lace bodice was;
fashioned with a mandarin collar
and long pointed sleeves and
the floor-length skirt featured
lace inserts. She wore her mother's
hand embroidered veil of illusion
caught to a tiara of orange blossoms
and carried an arm bouquet
of white roses and carnations.
The maid of honor, Miss Jeanene
Werth, was gowned in blue taffeta
designed with a sweetheart neck-
line, inserts of shirring in the bodjice
and a bouffant skirt. The
bridesmaid, Miss Loretta Eckman
of Buffalo and the junior brides
maid, Miss Alice Wehrung of East
Amherst, niece of the bride, wore
identical gowns in dusty r o se
shade, with orchid puffed sleeves
and sashes. The attendants carried
baskets of roses and carnations
tied with ribbons to match their
gowns.
Stanley Galdys, a cousin of the
bridegroom, was the best man and
Richard Schnell and Elton Ziehl,
brother of the bride, were ushers.
Donald Wehrung, the bride's nephew,
was the ringbearer.
For her daughter's wedding,
Mrs. Ziehl wore a navy blue crepe
dress trimmed with crystal beads
on contrasting pink. Pink acces-
sories and a corsage of pink roses
fcand white carnations complemented
her costume. Red roses and
white carnations were combined
as a corsage for Mrs. Szeliga who
chose a navy blue crepe dress and
back accessories.
A reception was given in the
home of the bride for sixty guests.
The bride's table, with covers for
16, was centered with a wedding
cake. Decorations were carried out
in pastel pink and blue and white
wedding bells.
Traveling, the bride wore a bluegray
two-piece wool suit with a
gray top coat and navy blue accessories.
Mr. and Mrs. Szeliga are
now at home in Klemer Rd.
Prenuptial parties were given for
the bride by Miss Jeanene Werth.
