    NIAGARA FALLS — Richard R. Mang, of Niagara Falls, died Saturday, January 7, 2012, at home. He was 88. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY on July 13, 1932, the son of Raymond and Lillian (Ziehl) Mang. He attended schools here, including Kelly Business Institute.

    Richard served in the US Army from 1952-1954, stationed in Germany. He, along with his dad, owned and operated Mang's Fish Market for many years, until his retirement in 1996. An avid fisherman, he also enjoyed woodworking.

    He was predeceased by his wife, Norma (Fuller) Mang on August 6, 1996.

    Survivors include his step-daughter, Nancy Reid of Kenmore; four step-grandchildren, David and Scott Woolsoncroft, Jacqueline Plunkett and Tammy Kopack; several great-grandchildren and cousins, and a dear friend, John W. Willmott of Niagara Falls.

    Friends may call Thursday from 5-8 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, where services will be held at 8 PM. The interment will be private in Acacia Park Cemetery, Pendleton, NY.

    Gustav Ziehl, 80, of Lockport Ave., Route 1, North Tonawanda, died Monday morning in DeGraff Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Born in the Town of Wheatfield, he was a lifelong resident of this vicinity. He is survived by his wife, Elma; a daughter, Mrs. Ray Mang of Niagara Falls; a son, Curt Ziehl of North Tonawanda, a brother, William in Milwaukee, Wisc.; a sister, Mrs. Mary Goerss of North Tonawanda; and one grandchild. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. today in the Wattengel Funeral Home, the Rev. Frederick Hinners officiating. Burial was in Resthaven Cemetery.

    Gustav married WALK, Alma Ernestine Wilhelmine on 23 May 1901 in North Tonawanda, Niagara County, NY.     Born in this city, she had

    of St. Paul's Lutheran
    Church and the Ladies Aid
    Society of the church.
    She is survived by a daughter,

    Old Resident Dead, Carl Ziehl of Martinsville Passed Away Yesterday - Leaves Large Family.
    Carl Ziehl, aged 72 years, an old resident of the town of Pendleton died yesterday morning at his home near Martinsville. Besides his wife, Maria, he leaves five daughters, Mrs. Frederick Wurl, Mrs. William Hartwig, Mrs. G. Fleischman, Mrs. John Jaenecke, and Mrs. C. F. Goerss of this city; and five sons, John, Charles, Ferdinand, Gustav and William. Fourty-four grand children and one great grandchild survive. The deceased came to Niagara County 50 years ago and by occupation has always been a farmer. He enjoyed the respect and esteem of all who knew him. The funeral will be held from the late residence at 1 o'clock tomorrow afternoon.

    Four Generations Survive Aged Resident Here – Mrs. Marie A. Ziehl of North Side Dies at Age Eighty Leaving Sixty-Six Survivors.
    Four daughters, five sons, forty-nine grandchildren, sixty great-grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren were the progeny of Mrs. Maria A. Ziehl, eighty years old, who died last night at the home of her son, Gustav Ziehl, Lockport Avenue. Mrs. Ziehl was born in the town of Wheatfield and had lived in North Tonawanda and vicinity all her life. Surviving are daughters, Mrs. August Wurl and Mrs. Mary Goerss of North Tonawanda, Mrs. Minnie Hartwig of Niagara Falls and Mrs. Gottfried Fleisman (sic) of Buffalo; sons Gustav, John and Ferdinand of North Tonawanda, William Ziehl of Milwaukee and Charles Ziehl of Hartland, N.Y; the forty-nine grandchildren, sixty great grandchildren, two great, great grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Herman Castillion of Appleton, Wis. The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the late residence and half an hour later at the St. Paul's Church, Rev. D. H. Steffens officiating.
