Struck by a taxlcab as he was crossing
Niagara street at Ninth street
Saturday night, William Boyce, 67
years old, 908 Ferry avenue, died an \ slain,
hour later in Memorial hospital. Police
said that the taxlcab was driven
by Edward Karaska, 523 Nineteenth
street.
Karaska made a statement to Coroner
W. L. Draper in which he said
that another automobile was preceding
his taxlcab out Niagara street
and that after the other car passed
the intersection Boyce stepped from
the curb and started to cross the
street directly In front of the taxicab.
Karaska said that he was unable
to stop his cab in time to avoid hitting
the man.
Coroner Draper said that Boyce apparently
died from injuries of the
brain caused by the accident.
Mr. Boyce, a native of Scotland,
had lived in this city for the past 30
years. He was employed as a retail
salesman by the J. B. Simpson company,
of Chicago.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs.
Elizabeth Boyce; four sons, James,
Stanley, Douglas and Ernest Boyce.
and three daughters, Gertrude ahd
Irene Boyce and Mrs. David Watson,
all of this city. A brother and sister,
Robert Boyce and Mrs. Donald James,
of Edinburgh, Scotland, also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 908
Ferry avenue at 2:30 p. m. tomorrow,
with the Rev. Marcel R. Desgaller
officiating. Burial will be in Memorial
Park cemetery.
William married Elizabeth about 1903 in Scotland. Elizabeth was born about 1882 in Scotland; died on 14 May 1946 in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
