LEWISTON — Jean T. Brown, of Lewiston, NY, passed away on Friday, July 20, 2012, in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence. She was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on December 15, 1911, the daughter of the late George and Carmel (Sullivan) Findlay.
Mrs. Brown graduated from Niagara Falls High School. She was employed with the City of Niagara, as the secretary in the City Managers office, for over 19 years, before retiring in 1976. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, serving as Grand Marshall of St. Patrick's Day Parade in 2007, the St. Francis Guild, the Sunshine Club and the Bishop Duffy and Madonna's Mother's Club. She loved taking care of her grandchildren and enjoyed traveling and reading.
Mrs. Brown was the wife of the late Matthew J. Brown, who died on April 10, 1965. She is survived by two daughters, Patricia (Richard) Zimmer of Rochester, NY and Maricarol (Paul) Chapman of Fresno, CA; three sons, Kevin M. (Florence) Brown of Lewiston, NY, Matthew (Betty Ann) Brown of Greensboro, NC, Daniel J. (Janet Rogers) Brown of Windsor, CA; ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Brown was the sister of the late Peter Findlay, Eleanor Findlay, Anne Cavers and Mary Hagan.
The family will be present on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 901 Cayuga Street, LEWISTON, NY. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10:00 AM, at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 259 Forth Street, Niagara Falls, NY, with the Rev. Jacek P. Mazur officiating. Memorials may be made in her name to Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
