    The Rev. Loren J. Shiley officiated
    for the daughter of Mr. and
    Mrs. Clarence Wittkop, 227 Linwood
    Ave., and the son of Mrs.
    Bernhardt C. Hoffmeister, 192
    Fredericka St., and the late Mr.
    Hoffmeister.
    The bride wore a gown of Chantilly
    lace over blush pink tulle designed
    with a sweetheart neckline
    and long sleeves. A pearl-trimmed
    tiara held her blush pink veil and
    she carried a prayer book covered
    with a white orchid and snowdrift
    pompons.
    Miss Carol Voelker, maid of
    honor, wore a forest green ballerina
    length dress made with a
    velvet bodice and taffeta skirt.
    She carried a bouquet of yellow
    chrysanthemums and pompons.
    The bridesmaid, Miss Faye Wittkop,
    wore an identical costume in
    dusty rose and carried y e l l ow
    chrysanthemums and b r o n ze
    pompons.
    Lyle Hoffmeister was best man.
    David Werth and Mark Hoffmeister
    were ushers.
    The bride's mother wore a beige
    lace over taffeta dress. The
    bridegroom's mother chose a navy
    blue over light blue silk chiffon
    dress with matching accessories.
    Both wore pink cymbidium orchid
    corsages.
    White chrysanthemums and
    pompons with pink accents decorated
    the bride's table for the reception
    in Nashville Fire Hall.
    Traveling to Florida, the bride
    wore a navy blue suit and match-
    ing accessories.
    Pre-nuptial parties for the
    bride were given by Miss Faye

    The founder of the Gratwick Lumber Co., Bernhardt C. Hoffmeister, 51, of 192 Fredericka St., died at his North Tonawanda home Thursday night after a long illness. Mr. Hoffmeister was treasurer of the Niagara-Orleans Lumbermen's Association and a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. He had served as president of the Gratwick Lumber Co. Mr. Hoffmeister is survived by his wife, the former Loa May Behm; three children, Lyle, Carl and Mrs. Donald Shimschack, all of North Tonawanda; one grandchild; a sister, Mrs. Arthur F. Duerr of North Tonawanda; and four brothers, Benjamin C, Edmund B. and Christian T. Hoffmeister of North Tonawanda, and John A. Hoffmeister of the Town of Wheatfield. Mr. Hoffmeister's body will lie in state at St. Mark's Lutheran Church before services at 2 p.m. Monday. The Rev. Loren J. Shiley will officiate.

    The wedding of Miss Hilda
    Goerss, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
    August Goerss of Ward road, town
    of Wheatfield ,to Clarence Witkop,
    son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry
    Witkop, of Bergholtz, was solemnized
    Sunday afternoon, June 12th
    at 4.30, in St. John's Evangelical
    Lutheran church, the Rev. W. J.
    Thiemecke, officiating.
    The church was decorated with
    palms and baskets of peonies, and
    an archway over the front pews,
    was beautifully decorated with
    roses and beauty bush. Mrs. Thiemecke
    sang, "We at Thine Altar
    Stand," by DeKoven and "Wedding
    Hymn," by N. J. Hong with
    August Huebner at the organ.
    The bride wore a white satin
    gown, fashioned with a lace yoke
    and the fitted bodice was trimmed
    with tiny white satin buttons.
    The sleeves were long, extending
    to a point at the wrist, and the
    skirt flowed into a long train. Her
    long tulle veil fell from a halo
    of pearls and she carried a shower
    bouquet of bridal roses.
    The maid of honor. Miss Pearl
    Durow, of Niagara Falls, cousin
    of the bride, wore a peach colored
    chiffon dress, made with a shirred
    bodice. She wore blue flowers in
    her hair and carried a bouquet of
    delphinium and talisman roses.
    The bridesmaids were Miss Beatrice
    Stenzel, cousin of the bride
    and Miss Margaret Durow of Niagara
    Falls, also a cousin of the
    °ride. They wore blue chiffon
    dreSsea, with peach colored flowers
    In their hair and carried bouquets
    of talisman roses and delphinium.
    Joyce Millville, niece of the
    bride was flower girl, and wore
    a long pink taffeta dress and carried
    a basket of sweet peas. Howard
    Strassburg, cousin of the groom
    wtis ring bearer and wore a
    white satin suit.
    Robert Eichorn, of Buffalo, was1
    best man. The ushers were Norman
    and Carl Goerss. brothers
    of the bride and Frederick and
    Arthur Witkop, cousins of the
    groom.
    The mother of the bride was
    attired in a blue printed crepe
    dress, and the groom's mother a
    black lace gown with bolero. Each
    wore a corsage of roses and sweet
    peas.
    Following the ceremony, a dinner
    and reception for seventy-five
    guests was held in the Holy Ghost
    school hall, Bergholtz. The hall
    and tables were decorated in a
    color scheme of yellow and white.
    The bride's table, with covers laid
    for sixteen, was centered mith a
    wedding cake.
    Mr. and Mrs. Witkop left for
    a motor trip to Michigan. After
    July 1st, they will take up their
    residence in their new home in
    Niagara road, Bergholtz.

Born in the Town of Wheatfield, he-had lived here for the last 60 years. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs Arthur Duerr; five sons: Benjamin, John, Edmund, Bernhardt and Christ Hoffmeister, all of this city, 13 grandchildren; three great grand children; a brother Carl of Altamont, Ill, and two sisters, Miss Minnie Hoffmeister and Mrs. Anna Mueller both of Niagara Falls. Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Fretthold Funeral

    N 0 R T H TONAWANDA - Services for August F. Goerss, 86. of 44 Ransom St. who died Friday (Dec. 27, 1957) at DeGraff Memorial Hospital, will be conducted by the Rev. J. Walter Thiemecke at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Fretthold Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Mr Goerss was born in the Town of Wheatfield and lived the greater part of his life in this city. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and was a carpenter. He retired 15 years ago. Surviving are his wife Mrs. Louis Rung Goerss, three daughters, Mrs. Theodore Jagow, Niagara Falls, Mrs. Herbert A. Milleville and Mrs. Clarence Witkop, both of this city, two sons, Carl A. Goerss, and Norman W. Goerss of Lockport, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
