Larene (Rene) Ann Pieper (nee Hall), passed away September 7, 2023, just one month short of what would have been her 90th birthday. A lifelong resident of North Tonawanda, she is predeceased by her loving husband Robert (Skippy) Pieper, and her two beautiful daughters Deborah Flynn and Robin Washcovick, (James). She is survived by her children James (Kristine) Pieper, Scott (Barbara) Pieper, Thomas (Mary Lou) Pieper, Robert (Nancy) Pieper, and Kelly (Kevin) Ezzo. A sweet grandmother to Kevin, Robert, Aubrey, Kristen, Lindsay, Brett, Joshua, Matthew, Brandon, Stephanie, Zachary, and Nicholas, and who will remember her fondly for, among other things, a candy dish on every side table and hosting Christmas Eve. She was a great grandmother to 19 blessings. Rene was an employee and friend of Town Lanes Bowling Alley for 35 years, and passed the love of bowling onto her children. She enjoyed playing Bingo and being a member of the Red Hatters after moving from her home on Sweeney Street to Bishop Gibbons. Her new friends and neighbors were like sisters. She was an avid reader and kept her mind sharp with word puzzles. She enjoyed playing, and several times won, her fantasy football league. A wake is planned at Wattengel Funeral Home, 533 Meadow Drive, North Tonawanda on Saturday, September 16 from 1-3 p.m.

Arthur A. Pieper - 73, of 180 Miller St., North Tonawanda, Tuesday (Feb 27, 1973) at DeGraff Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. Mr. Pieper was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. A former employee of The Wurlitzer Co. for 45 years. He retired in 1965.
He is survived by his wife Ruth (nee Grawe) Pieper; five daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Doris) Barnes, Mrs. Clifford (Betty) Polhman, Mrs. Frank (Norma) Fill, Mrs. Franklin (Ruby) Brosius and Mrs. Marilyn Brosius; two sons Robert R. and James J. Pieper; 25 grandchildren; two sisters Mrs. Louise Lee of North Tonawanda and Mrs. Marie Heidenfeldt.
The family will receive friends at the Fretthold Funeral Home, Inc., 1241 Oliver St., at Ward Rd., North Tonawanda for 7 to 9 p.m. this evening and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m., the Rev. A.W. Moldenhauer officiating. Interment Friedens Cemetery.

Ruth A. (nee Grawe) Pieper, age 91, of North Tonawanda, Wednesday (April 20, 1994) in DeGraff Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Pieper was a lifelong resident of North Tonawanda, a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and the North Tonawanda Senior Citizens. She was the wife of the late Arthur A. Pieper who died in 1973.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Clifford (Betty Jane) Pohlman, Mrs. Norma Fill and Mrs. Franklin (Ruby) Brosius; a son James J. (Diane) Pieper, all of North Tonawanda; twenty-five grandchildren, forty-four great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Doris Barnes, Marylin Kerlin and Robert Pieper.
Friends may call at the Feretthold Funeral Home, Inc., 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd., North Tonawanda, this evening from 7-9 and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. from St. Matthew Lutheran Church; the Rev. A native of North Tonawanda, he was a brother of the late LeRoy Nightingale and the late Carl Schnell. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, the Church Council and a member of Sutherland Lodge No. 826, F&AM. He is survived by his wife, Alice (nee Grieser) Nightingale; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Cynthia) Montesanti; three grandchildren, John, Richard and Mary Lou Montesanti; a sister, Mrs. Gordon Campbell; two brothers,' Edward and Donald Schnell, all of North Tonawanda , and several nieces and nephews.
