1975 and was a former
employe of American
District Steam and former
custodian of
Wurlitzer School.
He is survived by his
wife, Mattie M. Behrns;
five daughters, Mrs.

Niethe of the Town of
Wheatfield, Mrs. John
(Ruth) Thorn of Lancaster,
Mrs. Millie Newell of
California and Mrs. Betty
Vorpahl and Mrs. Edw

North Tonawanda; a son.
Donald L. Behrns of
California; 22 grandchildren;
12 greatgrandchildren;
a brother,
Elmer Behrns; also
several nieces and
nephews; father of the
late Arthur C. Behrns
who died in 1974.
The family will receive
friends at the Fretthold
Funeral Home, Inc., 1241
Oliver St., at Ward Rd.,
North Tonawanda this
evening from 7 to 9 and
Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to
9 p.m. Date and time of
service to be announced.
The Rev. David Mc-

of 979 Walck Road, North Tonawanda,
wiH be feted tomorrow
in honor of their Golden Wedding
anniversary.
They will be entertained by
their children at a party in the
Adams Fire Hall, Nash Road.
Relatives from Rochester, Syracuse
and Courtland, Mich., will
attend.
The former Miss Matie Lueders
and Mr. Behrns were married
Sept. 12, 1917, in St. Paul
Lutheran Church, North Tonawanda.
They have lived here all
their lives, and are members of
Third Presbyterian Church.
"Hook" Behrns, as he is
known in bowling circles, enjoys
sports. In his early years he
played baseball and football,,
and in recent years concentrat-
ed on bowling. Another hobby is
caring for his vegetable garden
from which he supplies a variety
of fresh foods for his family.
Mr. Behrns, who retired eight
years ago, was employed at var-
ious period by American Dis-
trict Steam, Twin City Dairy and
as custodian at Wurlitzer School.
Mrs. Behrns, a member of the
church Guild, enjoys crocheting
abnd sewing. she and her hus-
band have seven children, 22
grandchildren, and four great-
grandchildren.

Calif.; Mrs. Edward (Dorothy)
Nieethie, Mrs. John (Ruth) Thom,
Arthur Behrns, Mrs. Melvin
(Betty) Vorpahl, Mrs. Edward
(Charlotte) Strojnowski, all of
North Tonawand, and Mrs.
Glenn (Mildred) Newell, who is
here from Los Angeles,Calif.,
with two of her daughters.
