    APPLE VALLEY, MN — Richard D. Sydor, of Apple Valley, MN, formerly of Farmington, MN and Sanborn, NY, passed away on October 15, 2011, at the age of 78 years. Dick was born in North Tonawanda, NY on January 12, 1933.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lottie (Maday) Sydor of Sanborn, NY; siblings, Ruth Croft, Mary (Fred) Cousino and Edward (Mary Jane) Sydor.

    He is survived by his loving wife, Clarice B. Sydor and his children, Mark (Kathy), Robin Sydor and Scott Sydor; grandchildren, Aaron and Stephen Sydor; step-sons, David (Robin) and Jeffrey Janssen; step-grandchildren, Luke and Nicholas Janssen; sister, Jackie Bowling; and many nieces and nephews.

    Dick graduated from North Tonawanda High School. He joined the army during the Korean conflict in March of 1951. He served as a Medical Technician in the 82nd Airborne Div. After his discharge in 1954, he married Marlene Holmes of Duluth, MN in Buffalo, NY.

    Dick served on the Boy Scout Committee and the Scoutmaster for Troop 39 in Sanborn, NY. He was an agent and a member of the board of Directors of the Bergholtz Insurance Co. He was an active member of the Buffalo Purchasing Agents Assn., a charter member of the Wheatfield Republican Club and a Republican Committeeman. He served as a volunteer on the Sanborn Ambulance Service for 15 years and was a member of the Sanborn Volunteer Fire Co. He served on the church council of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Walmore, NY.

    He entered the industrial sales field with FC Nichols Company during the Niagara Power Project, and later was employed with the KD Supply Company as Sales Manager of the Fluid Power Division. He moved to Minnesota with his family in 1973, where he worked for the Nott Company in industrial sales for three years. He went into business for himself as a Manufactures Representative in 1976. He retired in 2005.

    Funeral services will take place 11 AM Thursday, October 20, 2011, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 20165 Heath Ave., Lakeville, MN, with visitation on Wednesday, October 19 from 5-8 PM, at the White Funeral Home, 901 3rd St., Farmington, MN 55024 (651-463-7374), and one hour prior to service at church. Interment, Corinthian Cemetery, Farmington, MN.
