(nee Schmeichel) Hy, age 87, of North Tonawanda and formerly of the City of Tonawanda, Thursday December 5, 2013, at her current residence in Park Creek Assisted Living, under Hospice care. Velma was the wife of Robert H. Hy, who died in 1999; and the daughter of the late Edward and Cora (nee Kopp) Schmeichel. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She is survived by five children, Kathleen (Mark) Pridemore of Morgan, TX, James (Michelle) Hy of Brant, NY, Richard (Rosario) Hy of Buffalo, Robert (Kim) Hy of Wendell, NC, and Lori (Sal) Minotti of Cheektowaga, NY; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; her sister, Janet (the late Thomas) Fleming and her brother, Robert (Mabel) Schmeichel, both of North Tonawanda. Also several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at John O. Roth Funeral Home, Inc., 25 William St. (between Morgan & Broad Sts.), in Tonawanda, where funeral services will be conducted at 8 PM Monday following the visitation. The Rev. Andrew Abraham will officiate. A private burial will be in Acacia Park Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. NORTH TONAWANDA- Edward
A. Schmeichel, 42, of 433 Falls
boulevard, died today at the De-
Graff Memorial hospital. He was a
lifelong resident of the Martinsville
section and was a member of the
Rescue fire company and the North
Tonawanda Firemen's Benevolent
association.
He Is survived by his wife. Mrs.
Cora A. Kopp Schmelchel: a son.
Robert: two daughters. Zelma and
Janet: his parents. Mr. and Mrs.
Albert Schmeichel. of this city; two
brothers. Arthur, of Amherst, and
Wilbert, of this city; a sister. Mrs.
Theodore Fonton. of this city.
Last rites will be Friday at 2
p. m. at the home of Mrs. Schmelchel's
sister, Mrs. William Otterstein,
of 1785 Dellwood avenue, and
at 2:30 at the St. Paul's Lutheran
church at Martinsville. The Rev. F.
A. Hlnners will officiate and Interment
will be In White Chapel
Memorial Park cemetery.

SCHMEICHEL - Albert C. Schmeichel, 76, of 334 Oliver St., died last evening
(Sept. 23, 1954) at DeGraff Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was
born in Germany and had lived here 73 years. He is survived by his wife,
Adelaide Wienke Schmeichel; two sons, Arthur of Eggertsville and Wilbert
Schmeichel of North Tonawanda; a daughter, Mrs. Donald Black of North
Tonawanda; four brothers, William of Colorado Springs, Colo., Edward,
Benjamin and Charles of the Tonawandas; four sisters , Mrs. Edward Batt,
Mrs. Carl Kolz and Mrs. Frank Netter, all of Tonawanda, and Mrs. William
Collins of Buffalo; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He
was a member of St. Martin's Lutheran Church and the Live Hose Company.
Funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Wattengel Funeral Home., 307 Oliver
St., the Rev. Arthur Hornish officiating. Burial in St. Martin's Cemetery.

Albert married WIENKE, Adelaide Helene Louise on 10 Mar 1898 in Bergholtz, Town of Wheatfield, Niagara County, NY. POKELWALDT - Adelaide Schmeichel Pokelwaldt, 77, of 181 18th Ave., North
Tonawanda, died Saturday (Apr. 13, 1957) in Meyer Memorial Hospital,
Buffalo, after a long illness. Born in Germany, she resided in North
Tonawanda for 71 years and was the wife of the late Herman Pokelwaldt. She
is survived by two sons, Arthur of Eggertsville and Wilbert of North
Tonawanda; a daughter, Mrs. Donald Black of North Tonawanda; three bothers,
Adolph Weinke of Sanborn and John and Reinhardt Weinke of Bergholtz, and
four sisters, Mrs. Edward Jagow of Niagara Falls, Mrs. Esther Moll and Mrs.
Emma Haseley of Bergholtz and Mrs. Ella Eggert of Gasport. Seven
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Pokelwaldt was
a member of St. Martin's Church, North Tonawanda. Friends may call at the
Wattengel Funeral Home, 307 Oliver St., where services will be at 2 p.m.
Monday with the Rev. Arthur Hornish officiating. Burial will be in St. Mark's
Cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Schmeichel,
334 Oliver St., both residents of
North Tonawanda for more than
70 years, today are observing their
56th wedding anniversary.
Both were born in Germany and
came to this city when they were
small children. Mr. Schmeichel
is 76 years old, his wife, 73.
The couple was married March
10,1898 in Bergholtz. They are the
parents of four children: Wilbert
Schmeichel and Mrs. Leona Black
of North Tonawanda, Arthur
Schmeichel of Eggertsville and the
late Edward Schmeichel, a former
alderman of the seventh ward.
They have 12 grandchildren and 3
great-grandchildren.
A former cabinet maker at the
Rudolph Wurlitzer Company, Mr
Schmeichel later was custodian at
the Tonawandas YMCA and worked
for a time in the Evening
NEWS building.
For several years, until his retirement
about 10 years ago, Mr.
Schmeichel . operated a tavern
Mrs. Schmeichel, who occupies
much of her leisure time with hand
work, at one time prepared luncheons
for the Kiwanis and Rotary
Clubs of the Tonawandas.
Mr. Schmeichel is confined in
his home with penumonia and a
celebration of the anniversary has
been postponed by the couple's
family until his recovery and
"warmer weather" will allow a
family get-together.

Edward married FRIELING, Marie Augusta about 1895 in North Tonawanda, Niagara County, NY. Marie (daughter of FRIELING, Fred and WILLIAMS, Wilhelmine Caroline) was born in Mar 1876 in Wolcottsville, Town of Royalton, Niagara County, NY; died on 28 Feb 1964 in Tonawanda, Erie County, NY. HAHN - Marie Augusta Hahn, 88, of 86 Morgan St., Tonawanda, died Wednesday (Feb. 26, 1964) after a long illness. She was born in Wolcottsburg, N.Y., but had lived the greater part of her life in the Tonawandas. She was a member of St Paul's Lutheran Church, North Tonawanda. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. William (Esther) Otterstein and Mrs. Cora Schmeichel, both of the Tonawandas; one son, Gerhardt Kopp of North Tonawanda; four grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren. Friends may call at Hamp Funeral Home Inc., Adam-Seymour Streets, Tonawanda, where services will be Friday at 2 p.m., the Rev. Enno Schmook officiating. Burial in St. Paul's Cemetery, Martinsville.
