    Marie D. Wienke, of Sanborn, NY, passed away on Monday, August 13, 2018, in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence.
    She was born in Los Angeles, CA, on January 27, 1938, the daughter of the late Cecil and Esther [Mueller] Strehlow.
    Marie moved to North Tonawanda in the 1940's with her family and graduated from North Tonawanda High School.
    She worked in the Melody Fair box office and sports box office at Niagara University where she became the payroll clerk in the Human Resource Department for 23 years, before retiring in 2002.
    Marie was a founding and long time member of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda where she served faithfully as an organist for 49 years.   Her love of music was shared with many through choir, Sunday school, vacation Bible School and instrumental duets.    She helped start and participated in many of the church women's organizations.
    Marie was the first crossing guard for the West Street School in Sanborn and a dedicated charter member of the Sanborn Historical Museum.
    She is survived by her husband of 62 years Glenn L. Wienke, three daughters Karen (Bryan) Richardson, Kathy (Rob Sobczyk) Richardson and Kris (Rick) Schrader, six grandchildren Craig (Ashley) Richardson, Julie (Kyle) Stevener, Michelle (Lance) Rolston, Kimberly Richardson, Brittany (Christian) Nole and Brandon Schrader, three great grandchildren Alexis, Natalie and Jackson, a brother Donald (Clara) Strehlow and a sister Donna (Tony) Ventresca, also several nieces and nephews.
    Her family will be present on Friday from 3-7 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY.
    A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, 1534 Ruie Road, North Tonawanda, NY.
    Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made in her name to the Abiding Savior Lutheran Church.
    Interment in Acacia Park Cemetery, Town of Pendleton, NY.

    Walter A. Wienke, 92, of Jagow Road, a Sanborn farmer and businessman, died Tuesday (Nov. 5, 1996) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston.
    Born in Sanborn, Wienke lived there most of his life.
    He married Frances Ferchen in 1930, and they moved to Ward Road. Twenty-five years later, they built a home on Saunders Settlement Road, Sanborn, where he operated the 60-acre Wienke Farm with his bother, Clarence.
    A pond on the farm allowed the brothers to irrigate all their fruit and vegetable crops, which were highly regarded in the area.
    In 1936, the brothers started a greenhouse business, growing flowers and vegetable plants for nurseries.
    Wienke was a spokesman for the Market Growers Co-Op and is credited with helping save the Niagara Falls Farmers Market from closing in 1963.
    In his younger days, Wienke played the sousaphone in the well-known Gombert Band.
    He was a member of Abiding Saviour Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda. He was a former member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Niagara Falls, where he served on the vestry as trustee and president.
    He was an exempt member of Sanborn Volunteer Fire Company and a member of the Niagara County Extension Service.
    His wife died in 1994.
    Wienke is survived by a son, Glenn L. of Sanborn; a sister, Hilda Ferchen of Tucson, AZ.; three granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren.
    A memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday in Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, Ruie Road and Cambridge Avenue, North Tonawanda. Burial will be in Acacia Park Cemetery, Pendleton

A native of Wheatfield, the former Frances A. Ferchen lived in Sanborn until 1984.     pretty wedding was solemnised In
    St. Martins Lutheran church at 8
    o'clock 8unday morning when Miss
    Elrthcr Mueller, daughter of Mr. and
    Mrs. Benjamin Mueller, of 1765 Lllwood
    avenue, became the bride of
    Cecil 8trehlow of Hollywood, Calif.
    Rev. Theophllus Bcrner officiated at
    the ceremony and Miss Erma Muller,
    slater of the bride, acted as maid of
    honor. Franklin Hahn, cousin of the
    groom, were the other attendants. The
    church was artistically decorated with
    baskets of flowers. A solo "Bacause".
    wai sung by Eugene Thlele.
    The bride wore a town of yellow
    chiffon and the maid of honor pink
    chiffon. Miss Miller was attired in
    yellow mousscline do sole. All wore
    corsages of bright summer flowers.
    Following the ceremony a wedding
    dinner was served at the home of the
    bride's parents, covers being laid for

    SANBORN - Adolph G. Wienke, 95, of 2652 Saunders Settlement Road, died Saturday (Oct. 2, 1976) in Grand Island Manor after a long illness. He was born in Stateen, Germany, and came to this country and the Town of Wheatfield at the age of four. He moved to Sanborn in 1903. He operated a farm on Saunders Settlement for most of his life prior to retiring. He was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore, and had served as a trustee of the church. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau.
    Survivors include two sons, Walter A. and Clarence E. of Sanborn; one daughter, Mrs. Hubert (Hilda) Ferchen, Wheatfield; one brother, Reinhard Wienke, Wheatfield; three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Jagow of Niagara Falls, Mrs. Emma Haseley and Mrs. Esther Moll, both of Wheatfield, and five grandchildren. He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. John Crilley officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the Rhoney Funeral Home, Sanborn, from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.     SANBORN-Mrs. Bertha A. Wienke, 83, of 2652 Saunders Settlement Road; died unexpectedly at her home Monday (Jun.12, 1967) after suffering a heart attack. She had been in ill health for the last year.
    Born in the Town of Lewiston March 20, 1884, she was the daughter of August and Auguste Hellert Haseley. She had been a resident at the Saunders Settlement address for the last 56 years. She was a lifelong member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Walmore.
    Survivors include her husband, Adolph; two sons, Walter A. and Clarence E. Wienke, both of Sanborn; a daughter, Mrs. Hubert (Hilda) Ferchen, Niagara Falls, and a brother, Edward Hasley (sic) Niagara Falls; also five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Service's will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday a St. Peter's Church. The Rev. Alfred W. Walck officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.

    A pretty wedding took place at the
    German Lutheran Emanuel Church at
    Morgan and William streets last evening
    when Miss Minnie J. Plau, daughter
    of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Plau of
    Young street, was united in marriage
    to Emil E. Strehlow of Ottawa, Ont.
    Miss Rose 'Plau, sister of the bride,
    was maid of honor and Andrew Schulmei-
    ster was best man. The bridesmaids
    were Miss Pauline Henning and
    Miss Bertha Strehlow, sister of the
    groom, and the ushers were Ernest
    Markeson and Philip Lang. A reception
    was held at the home of the bride.
    Mr. and Mrs. Strehlow will leave tomorrow
    for Ottawa where they will
    make their future home.

    Mrs. Mueller Dies at 83, Ill Long Time
    NORTH TONAWANDA - Mrs. Mary Mueller, 83, of 1526 Kingston Ave., died today (Sept. 21, 1965) at the NorTown Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. Survivors include her husband, Benjamin Mueller; two daughters, Mrs. Cecil (Esther) Strehlow, this city, and Miss Irma Mueller, Buffalo; three sisters, Mrs. Jennie Moore, Fair Oaks, Calif., Mrs. Louise Baley, Depew, and Mrs. Lynes Miller, this city; a brother, Adolph Litchkofske, Lancaster; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brunner Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Martin's Lutheran Church, Old Niagara Falls Boulevard, Rev. Luther Knauff officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Park.
