LOCKPORT. July 3.-Thomas R.
Stratton, 77. of 39 Park place, who
drove one of the first, horse cars in
Lockport more than 50 years ago.
died this morning at the Lockport
City hospital of heart disease. He
had been ill since April.
Mr. Stratton wa,s born in South
Easton. Pa., April 2. 1862. but lived
most of his life here. When horse
cars were introduced in 1887 Mr.
Stratton drove one. Later he was
employed by the Thompson Milling
company and Simon Miller's bakery.
In 1903 he entered the employ
of the Prudden funeral home, when
it first operated a furniture and
undertaking business in Pine street
under the name of Prudden and
Weaver. He had been with that
firm ever since.
In fraternal circles he was a past
councillor of Niagara Council. No. 8.
Junior O. U. A. M., and a past councillor
of the Daughters of America.
Surviving are two doughters, Mrs.
Jacob Wagenbauer, of Lockport.
and Mrs. Clarence Waterbury, of
Hartland; two sisters. Mrs. Frank
Bra do, of Newfane, And Mrs. Emma
Btull.7, of Cohocton, and a brother,
Frank Stratton, of South Amboy,
N . J .
Services will be held Wednesday at
2:30 at the Prudden funeral home,
with interment in Cold Springs
cemetery.
Thomas married Carrie L about 1884. Carrie was born in May 1866 in New York; and died. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
