    (Newfane) G. Gordon Rhodes, Sr. age 96 died August 1, 2021 at Eastern Niagara Hospital following a short illness.  He was born September 3, 1924 in Somerset, a son of the late L. Henry and Leona (Wass) Rhodes.
    Gordon enjoyed bowling, fishing, gardening and family reunions.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Barker, Hess Road Wesleyan Church and a long- time contributor to the Quaker Road United Methodist Church.  Gordon drove truck for White’s Transportation in Lockport, retiring after 31 years.
    In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Myrna (Stover) Rhodes; brothers Louis and Daniel Rhodes; sister Onalee Wilson.  He is survived by his children G. Gordon (Betty) Rhodes, Jr., AJ (Henry) Rhodes-Stegeman, H. Alan Rhodes, Sr., K. Joyce (Thomas, Sr.) Marchiole, Richard (Renee) Rhodes, Bonnie (Mike) Difino, LouAnne (Luis) Flores; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; sisters Ella (Earl) Dickinson, Eleanor (David) Barclay; brother Keith (Sharon) Rhodes as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
    The family will receive friends at the Sherrie Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main St., Gasport, Sunday August 8th 1:00pm-4:00pm and Monday August 9th 10:00am-11:00am where his Funeral Service will follow at 11:00am.  Burial at Hartland Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas TX, 75231.

    relatives called at the home of Mr.
    and Mrs. L. Henry Rhodes, when
    their daughters.Mrs. Farl Dickinson.
    Gasport, and Miss Elenaor Rhodes
    Barker, entertained at an Open
    House in honor of their thirtieth
    wedding anniversary. Preceding the
    reception, at the home, a dinner for
    the immediate familv was held M
    Green Acres, Burt.
    During the evening, refreshments
    were served from a buffet table laid
    with a lace cloth and centered with
    a decorated anniversary cake flanked
    by white candles in crystal holders.
    Mr. and Mrs. Rhodes' daughterin-
    law, Mrs. Gordon Rhodes, and a
    niece. Miss Joan Wass. poured while
    another niece, Mrs. Chalton Riley,
    assisted in serving the cake. Other
    who assisted were Mrs. F. K. Sandburg,
    Mrs. Clifford Wyman and Mrs.
    Harvey Snyder.
    Mrs. Rhodes received her guests
    gowned in navy blue with corsage of,
    pink camellias, the gift of her two
    young sons. Daniel and Keith.
    During the afternoon. Dr. Wesley
    Searles, Lima, who united the former
    Miss Leona Wass and Henry Rhodes
    in marriage 30 years ago. together
    with Mrs. Searles, called at the
    Rhodes home.
    Mr. and Mrs. Rhodes are the parents
    of seven children; Lewis, who
    was a casualty of World War 2: Mrs.
    Earl Dickinson, Gasport; Mrs. David
    Wilson, Providence. R. I.; Gordon.
    West Somerset, and Eleanor, Danile
    and Keith, at home, and have five
    grandchildren.
    Among the out of town guests were
    Mr. Rhodes' brother. George Rhodes,
    and Mrs. Rhodes, Rochester.
