EVERYONE IS FAMILIAR with the old story of
the young man who comes home from camp, gets
married and takes off again for the military life.
But here's a new twist.
Marine Pvt. Carole Mc-
Farland got married Saturday,
and she has to be back
at Parris Is-
land, "S.C., at
0600 (6 a.m.)
on Dec. 13.
Her husband
will go back
to his job as
an inspector at

While Carole
e o m p letes a
two-year tour
of duty in the
Women Marines.
Carole, who is 18, graduated
from. .LaSalle High
School last June. She became
engaged to Charles E
Huey, 22, two weeks before
she left for Marine boot
camp at Parris Island with
her high school friend Alice
Keck, 18, of 70792nd St. on
Sept. 16.
Carole admits that Charles
was against it when she announced
her intention to enter
military service. But now
he's resigned, she says.
Carole came home on her
first military leave to get
married.
"When I get back. I'll have
to see my first sergeant and
get my name changed from
Pvt." McFarland to Pvt.
Huey," Carole smiled.
Her husband will come to
Parris Island for Christmas
and New Year's.
Does she plan to re-enlist
after her two-year tour?
Carole thinks not. Charles
says she better not.
In case a baby comes, she
gets an honorable discharge
and becomes Mrs. Huey, instead
of Pvt. Huey.
Eventually Carole, the
daughter of Mrs. Ruth McFarland,
9340 Read Ave., and
Charles plan to live in Aultman,
Pa.
