John P. Abate, 1525 Whit
ney Ave., died today (Oct. 22
1965) at Memorial Hospital
after a short stillness.
Mr. A b a t e,
who was born
in 1 t a 1 y, had
l i v e d in Niagara
Falls for
55 years and,
p r i o r to his
retirement in
July, was employed
by the
city as a sanitation
department
foreman.
Mr. Abate is
survived by his widow, Betty
Abate; two sons. R o n a l d
Abate, Niagara Falls, and
Frank Abate, Long Island; a
brother. Harry Abate, and a
sister. Mrs. Luisa Nanea, both
of Niagara Falls. A brother,
Patrick Abate, died in 1964.
He is also survived by his
father-in law, Carmelo West,
and five grandchildren.
Services will be held at
8:30 a.m. Monday at the
Magaddino Memorial Chapel,
Inc. and at 9:15 a.m. at St.
Joseph's Church. Burial will
be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

John married WEST, Betty about 1923. Betty (daughter of WEST, Carmelo) was born about 1903 in PA; and died. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Mrs. Maria Abate, widow of Frank
Abate, died at her home, 1342 Pierce
avenue, this morning, following a long
lllnm, She was 68 years old.
A native of Italy, Mrs. Abate came
to the United States 25 years ago and
lived In West Virginia for four years
before coming to Niagara Falls
years ago. She Is survived
daughters Mrs, Louise Nanca and
Mrs. Rose Sacco; three sons. Battiste,
John and Harry Abate, all of this city,
and one brother, Benedetto Gaetano.
Plans for the funeral were being completed
today.
