    Joseph William Goater, 56, of 446 81st St., a veteran
    of 24 years on the Niagara Falls Police Department,
    was pronounced dead on arrival at Memorial Hospital
    today (Aug. 19, 1965) after suffering an apparent heart
    attack at his home.
    A fire department rescue
    squad administered oxygen
    for 15 minutes in an attempt
    to revive him.
    Mr. Goater joined the police
    force May 1, 1941. He served
    as a patrolman throughout his
    almost a quarter-century span
    of service. Before being named
    to the department, he was
    employed at the city's sewage
    disposal plant.
    Mr. Goater was a native of
    Niagara Falls. He was a 25-
    year member of t h e Independent
    Order of Odd Fellows,
    the Niagara Falls Police
    Club and an elder at Riverside
    Presbyterian Church. He
    was also an active member of
    the Handbell Society of the
    church.
    Surviving are his wife, Mrs.
    Dorothy Goater; a son, Kenneth
    Goater, at home; three
    brothers. Thomas E. and Police
    Lt. Harry C. Goater, both
    of Niagara Falls, and Albert
    G. Goater. Pompano Beach,
    Fla.; and one sister, Mrs. Loz-
    zilaire (Amy) Johnson, Niagara
    Falls.
    Services will be h e l d at
    Riverside Presbyterian Church
    at 11 a.m. Saturday. Rev. Alan
    J. Perrine, pastor, will officiate.
    Burial will be in Memorial
    Park Cemetery.
    Friends may call at the Lane
    Funeral Home until 10 p.m.
    Friday.
    The family said that contributions
    to t h e Riverside
    Presbyterian Church Handbell
    Society are acceptable as
    tribute.

    Dorothy Ardine (Allen) Goater "Ladybug Dot", age 102 of Niagara Falls, was called to her heavenly home on June 11, 2016 at the Schoellkopf Health Center. Born February 14, 1914 in Niagara Falls, New York, daughter of the late Harry and Anna (Hanson) Allen. Dorothy was a member and former secretary at Riverside Presbyterian Church, where she and her husband were instrumental in starting a hand bell choir. She worked at her son's business, Sanborn Greenhouse, well into her retirement years. Dorothy was know for her ladybug collection, loved reading books and had a thirst for knowledge. Predeceased by her husband, Bill Goater; sister, Eleanor Call; brother, Warren Allen; in-laws,Suzanne Goater, William Owler, Gordy Call, Dorothy Allen, Thomas and Geraldine Goater, Harry Goater, Bert and Betty Goater, Amy and Loz Johnson, and May and Ray Phillips. Survived by her son, Kenneth Goater of Sanborn; sister and best friend, Ethel Owler of Youngstown; brother, George Allen of North Tonawanda; sisters-in-law, Shirley Allen and Winifred Goater; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield. Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Niagara Falls Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Riverside Presbyterian Church, or St. Jude Hospital.

    Harry Sumner Allen, 86, of
    8731 Buffalo Ave. died Sunday
    (July 10, 1966) at the Fairchild
    Nursing Home in Lewiston.
    Born in Clinton, Mass., Mr.
    Allen had resided in this area
    for 60 years. He was employed
    by the National Biscuit Co. as
    a baker for 37 years, retiring
    in 1947. He was a member of
    the LaSalle and Whitney Avenue
    Golden Age clubs.
    He is survived by three daughters,
    Mrs. William Goater and
    Mrs. Gordon Cal, both of this
    city, and Mrs. William G. Owler,
    Matteson, Ill.; two sons, Warren
    D. Allen and George H. Allen,
    both of North Tonawanda; a
    b r o t h e r , Rev. Ralph Allen,
    Rochester and 12 grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be held
    at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Riverside
    Presbyterian Church with Rev.
    Ray K. Hallin officiating. Burial
    will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

    Miss allen has chosen as her at-
