    Clair Michael Allen..widely known
    retired building contractor, of 743
    Fifteenth street, died In Mount St.
    Mary's hospital this morning after
    a brief illness. He was 72 years old.
    Mr. Allen was born in Model City,
    son of the late Alphonse and Mary
    Clair Allen. He had lived in this
    city 60 years and for many years
    was a member of the Allen-Smith
    Contracting company. He built
    many of the city's important build-
    ings, including Mount St. Mary's
    hospital and a large number of
    homes. He was a member of the Ni-
    agara Falls Exempt Firemen's asso-
    ciation and had a host of friends
    throughout the community. His wife,
    Mrs. Catherine Allen, died four
    years ago.
    He is survived- by two sons. Fred
    J. Allen, of Washington; D. C , and
    Harold J. Allen, of Cincinnati; five
    daughters, Mrs. Catherine Frank, of
    Niagara Falls, Ont., and Mrs. Margaret
    McGreevy, Mrs.Edith House,
    Mrs. Mildred McSpadden and Miss
    Marion Allen, of this city; two brothers,
    Fred J. Allen and Alexander J.
    Allen, of this city, and a sister, Mrs.
    Martha Dorgan, also of this city.
    Six grandchildren also survive.
    The funeral will be held from the
    family home at 8.30 am. Saturday
    with services at St. Joseph's church
    at 9 am. Burial will be in Riverdale
    cemetery

    The funeral of Mrs. Catherine Allen,
    wife of Clair M. Allen, 743 Fifteenth
    street, who died Saturday night, was
    held from the family home this morning,
    with many friends In attendance.
    Solemn high requiem mass was celebrated
    at St. Joseph's church by the
    Rev. John F. Collins, assisted by the
    Rev. George A. O'Neill and the Rev.
    Alphonse Bernardo. Interment will be
    made in Riverdale cemetery.
    The pallbeareers were Joseph Allen,

    Alexander , Dorgan, Gerald Dorgan,
    Louis Schira. Frank McCabe and Edward
    J. McKenna

    At St. Mary's church at 7 o'clock Tuesday
    morning Miss Catherine Brennan was
    married to Mr. Clare M. Allen, by the Rev.
    James A. Lanigan. Miss Agnes Brennan,
    a sister of the bride, was bridesmaid, ara
    Mr. Frederick Allen, a brother of the
    groom, was best man. After a trip East
    they will reside on Tenth street.
