MISSION HILLS, CA —
Mission Hills, CA - Michelina B. (Brigante) Alongi, 77, a native of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away at Providence Holy Cross Hospital after a brief illness, on January 2, 2014. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on April 22, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Delores (Gruppo) Brigante of Niagara Falls.
Mickey was married to Frank M. Alongi on June 15, 1957, and they have lived in Sylmar, CA since 1983. She was a nurse for few years, before becoming an amazing mother, one of the best Italian cooks a family could ever ask for and serving over 20 years supporting her son, Dr. Martin Alongi's practice as a Medical Transcriptionist.
She is survived by her husband of over 56 years, Frank M. Alongi of Sylmar, CA; three children, Frank, Jr. of Sylmar, CA, Martin (Mary) of Tarzana, CA and Greg (Karen) Alongi of Hamburg, NY; four grandchildren, Joseph, Matthew, Kristin and Olivia Alongi; two brothers, James (Marie) Briganti, Neil Brigante; and one sister, Patricia (James) Silvaggi, all of Niagara Falls. She is also survived by aunts, uncles, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins in the Niagara Falls area.
Mickey was laid to rest at San Fernando Mission Cemetery,11160 Stranwood Ave., Mission Hills, CA on January 10, 2014, with many family and friends present.

1957 at St. Joseph's Church

Tonolone officiated.
The bride is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bri-
. gante, 19th St., and the bridegroom
is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Vito Alongi, Parkview Dr.
Mrs. Connie Barber and Mrs.
Nancy Travis sang the responses
at the nuptial Mass.
The bride, the former Miss
Michelina Bernadette Brigante,
was gowned in point d'esprit
fashioned with tucked bodice
and long sleeves. The bouffant
skirt fell into a chapel-length
train, A headpiece of tulle and
orange blossoms held her fingertip-
length veil of illusion and
she carried a white orchid on a
prayerbook.
Miss Mae Gruppo was her
niece's maid of honor. Miss
Gruppo chose a ballet-length
gown of blue chiffon styled
along Grecian lines. She carried
a bouquet of blue rosebuds
and pale pink pompons.
Best man was Angelo La-
Duca and ushers were James
Brigante, brother of the bride,
and Louis Alongi, the bridegroom's
brother.
The couple will make its
home at 1201 Ferry Ave. Mr.
Alongi will resume his studies.
at Niagara University.
