Margaret (nee Degenhart) Batka, age 85, of Tonawanda, died Friday, October 14, at DeGraff Skilled Nursing Facility in North Tonawanda. Born in Tonawanda, she was the daughter of the late William and Catherine (nee Eagan) Degenhart. Mrs. Batka was a lifelong member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish and was employed by the KenTon School District before retiring. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was the wife of the late Stanley Batka, who died December 26, 1998; mother of David (Kim) Batka of Tonawanda; grandmother of Robert (Kathy) Batka of Buffalo; and sister of the late Elmer Degenhart, Ellen Wolf, Katherine Whipple, and James Degenhart. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
There is no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Noon on Saturday, October 29, at St. Francis Chapel, 71 Adam Street, Tonawanda; the Rev. Joseph Badding officiating. Friends invited. Inurnment will be cared for privately at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda. Flowers gratefully declined. If desired, memorials to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 73 Adam Street, Tonawanda, NY 14150, are preferred by her family.

The ceremony will be
in St. Francis Church rectory.
The bride-to-be was presented
with a corsage of mixed garden
flowers and many gifts. After
card games, a buffet luncheon
was served from a table which
had a bride and bridegroom as
centerpiece. Mixed flowers decorated
the house.
