    Ammon Frederick, 72, of
    West Street, a retired meat
    cutter at the Acme Market
    in Boonville, died on
    Wednesday, October 26,
    1994 at her home.
    She was born in Ava on
    August 14, 1922, a
    daughter of eugene and
    Loretta Smith Ammon.
    She grew up in West
    Leyden and graduated
    from West Leyden High
    School. She and her sister,
    Marie, operated a beauty
    shop in Boonville for
    several years before she
    was employed at Griffiss
    Air Base in Rome. for
    many years she was
    employed at the Acme
    Grocery market in
    Boonville, in the meat
    department, until the store
    burned in 1970.
    Shirley was united in
    marriage with Percy
    Frederick in January 1946.
    Mrs. Frederick was a
    member of the West
    Leyden Dutch Reformed
    Church, the Harland J.
    Hennessey Post VFW
    Ladies Auxiliary, a life
    member and secretary of
    the Lost Trail Snowmo-
    vile cub, and a life
    member and secretary of
    the Constableville Fish &
    Game Club.
    Besides her husband,
    surviving re one son,
    Ronald C. Frederick,
    Pompano Beach, Fla.; four
    daughters, Mrs. Garrett
    (Phyllis) Roseboom, Boon-
    ville, Lynda Frederick,
    Oriskany, Mrs. Jeanne
    Maya, Richmond, Va. and
    Mrs. James (Vicki)
    VerSchneider, Forestpost;
    six grandchildren, one
    great-granddaughter; and
    one brother, Chrles
    ammon of West Leyden.
    She was predeceased by
    sisters, Bethany (Betty)
    Dutch in 1985 and by
    Marie LaPlante Zimmer in
    1992.
    Grace side funeral
    services were held on
    Saturday, October 29.
    1994 at 1 p.m. at Boonville
    Cemetery. There were no
    calling hours. Arrange-
    ments were entrusted to
    the Trainor Funeral Home,
    Inc., Boonville.

    71. former Town of Lewis super-.
    visor. died Saturday. Sept 24. 1959
    at St. Luke's Memorial Hospital
    Center, Utica, after a three weeks
    illness.
    He was born Sept. 17, 1887 in
    West Leyden, son of George and
    Eva Briggs Ammon. He spent his
    entire life in this area.
    He married Loretta Smith Nov.
    11, 1919 at Ava, the Rev. Charles
    Bowman officiating. Mr. Ammon
    has resided at the familiy farm at
    West Leyden since 1928.
    Mr Ammon was active in the Democratic Party and served as
    supervisor for the Town of Lewis
    eight years and peace justice and
    assessor many years. He was a
    member of the West Leyden Cen-
    tral School Board several terms.
    He also operated a barber shop at
    the Schmoker store barn.
    He was a member of the Reform-
    ed Church and its board, the West
    Leyden Fire Deprtment, past mas-
    ter of the West Leyden Grange
    and past president of the West Ley-
    den Producers cooperative.
    Besides his wife, he leaves three
    daughters, Mrs. Walter Zimmer,
    Westernville; Mrs. Percy Freder-
    ick, Boonville; Mrs. Edward Dutch,
    West Leyden; a son, Charles E.
    West Leyden, 30 grandchildren; a
    brother, ???? of Watertown;
    three sisters, Mrs. Mary Canfield,
    and Mrs. Carlton Stockwell, both of
    Watertown, Mrs. Alice Jones at
    home; several nieces and nephews.
    The funeral was at 7 Wednesday
    from the Trainor Funeral Home,
    183 Schuyler St.,, Boonville, the
    Rev. Irving F. Beal, pastor of the
    Boonville Presbyterian Church, of-
    ficiating. Burial was in West Leyden
    Cemetery.

    Eugene married SMITH, Loretta C on 11 Nov 1919 in Ava, Lewis County, NY. Loretta (daughter of SMITH, George and SMITH, Kathryn) was born on 25 Mar 1895 in Utica, Oneida County, NY; died on 10 Apr 1967 in Utica, Oneida County, NY. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    WEST LEYDEN-Mrs. Loretta
    Ammon, 72, widow of
    Eugene Ammon, died this
    morning in Rose hospital,
    Utica, where she had been
    a patient a month.
    The funeral will be Saturday
    at 2 p.m., at the Trainor
    funeral home. Boonville, with
    Rev. Henry O. Hospers, pastor
    of the West Leyden Reformed
    church, officiating.
    Burial will be in West Leyden
    cemetery.
    Friends may call at the
    Trainor funeral home, Boonville.
    Surviving are three daughters,
    Mrs. Walter. (Marie)
    Zimmer and Mrs. Percy
    (Shirley) Frederick, both of
    Boonville, and Mrs. Edward
    (Betty) Dutch, West Leyden;
    a son, Charles E., West Leyden;
    23 grandchildren; nine
    great-grandchildren and a
    b r o t h e r , Ernest Smith
    Whitesboro.
    Mrs. Ammon was born in
    Utica, March 25, 1895, a
    daughter of George and Kathryn
    Smith Smith. She attended
    school in Utica and was
    married to Eugene Ammon,
    Nov. 11, 1919, in Ava. After
    their marriage, the couple
    operated a farm near West
    Leyden for two years and
    then moved to the Ammon
    homestead farm. After her
    husband's death on Sept. 26.
    1959, Mrs. Ammon continued
    to live on the farm until her
    illness.
    Mrs. Ammon was a member
    of the Dutch Reformed
    church and it's women's
    guild and was a former member
    of the West Leyden
    grange.

    Mrs. Eva Brigga Ammon, wife of
    George Aramon, passed away at her
    home In West Leyden Friday afternoon,
    following an illness of more than
    a year.
    Mrs. Ammon was born In thftt place
    59 years ago, daughter of the late Mr.
    and Mrs. George Brlggs. She was a
    member of the Ladies' Aid Society of
    the Reformed church and of the Home
    Bureau.
    Surviving are her husband and five
    children, Eugene, of West Leyden,
    Mre. Ediward Jones, of Rome, Mrs. H.
    H. Canfleld, Howard and Rose, all of
    Watertown. There are also four grandchildren.
    The funeral was held Monday afternoon
    from her late homo. Burial in
    West Leyden cemetery.
