  1. 6.  AMMON, H Howard was born on 3 Feb 1898 in West Leyden, Lewis County, NY (son of AMMON, George C and BRIGGS, Eva); died on 3 Jan 1968 in Watertown, Jefferson County, NY.

    H. Howard Ammon, 69, a
    retired linotype operator,
    was suddenly stricken with
    a heart attack while operat
    ing a snowblower at his
    home, 180 Ward, street, and
    died, apparently instantly,
    about 1:15 Wednesday afternoon.
    He was pronounced
    dead upon arrival by ambu
    lance at the House of the
    Good Samaritan about 1:35.
    Mr. Ammon had just started

    operating the snow removing
    machine in the driveway
    at the back of the home,
    then turned the blower over
    to a neighbor, Emery J. Len
    no, 178 Ward street, to do
    another errand, but collapsed
    in the snow. He had been afflicted
    with a heart condition.
    Surviving him are a daughter,
    Mrs. Robert J. (Patricia
    I.) Denum, Hialeah, Fla.; a
    grandson, Michael, of Hialeah;
    and three sisters, Mrs.
    Alice K. Jones, Rome, Mrs.
    Freda M. Canfield, 180 Ward
    street, with whom he lived,
    and Mrs. J. Carlton /(Rose I.)
    Stockwell, Sackets Harbor
    road.
    A brother, Eugene Ammon
    of West Leyden, died in a
    Utica hospital Sept. 26, 1959
    at the age of 72.
    Mr. Ammon was born at
    West Leyden Feb. 3, 1898, a
    son of George C. and Eva
    Briggs Ammon. His mother
    died Aug. 26, .1927 and his
    father on Aug. 11, 1938.
    Mr. Ammon spent the
    early part of his life at West
    Leyden, where he attended
    school. He came to Water-
    town as a young man and
    learned the printing trade in
    the shop of his brother-in-
    law, the late H. Harry Can-
    field, who operated a trade
    composition b u s i n e s s at

    Printing House Place, the location
    of the Hungerford-Holbrook
    company.
    He remained in employ of
    his brother-in-Jaw for jmanV;
    years, retiring about 'i960.
    Mr. 'Canfield,:' who retired
    when he^Vsold: "the. toisliiiss
    to Robert J. Briggs i n 1959,
    died Jan. 19, 1960.
    Mr. Ammon married Miss
    Agnes S. Whalen of this city,
    a native of Canada, on April
    3,1929. She died here March
    29, 1962, at the age of 58.

    Mrs. Eva Brigga Ammon, wife of
    George Aramon, passed away at her
    home In West Leyden Friday afternoon,
    following an illness of more than
    a year.
    Mrs. Ammon was born In thftt place
    59 years ago, daughter of the late Mr.
    and Mrs. George Brlggs. She was a
    member of the Ladies' Aid Society of
    the Reformed church and of the Home
    Bureau.
    Surviving are her husband and five
    children, Eugene, of West Leyden,
    Mre. Ediward Jones, of Rome, Mrs. H.
    H. Canfleld, Howard and Rose, all of
    Watertown. There are also four grandchildren.
    The funeral was held Monday afternoon
    from her late homo. Burial in
    West Leyden cemetery.
