    WILLIAM FRIELING VICTIM OF HIT AND RUN
    Prominent Volunteer Fireman Stmck Down While on Way to Attend Reunion of Rescue Hook and Ladder Co. - Sheriff Investigating
    William Frieling, 81 years old, residing on Lockport Ave, a half mile east of the North Tonawanda Line was found dead on the roadway a short distance from his home Saturday night, a victim of a hit and run driver. Frieling was found by Howard Miles, a resident of Pickard's Bridge who was driving to North Tonawanda shortly before 9 o'clock. Coroner J. E. Helwig took charge and had the body removed to the mans home. An autopsy this morning showed that death resulted from a fractured skull. Coroner Helwig notified the sheriff office and Deputy James Dufreque came to North Tonawanda an attempt to secure trace of the drvier who ran down Frieling. So far the authorities have been unable to secure a clue to the driver.
    Sheriff Notified
    A member of the Hose company of Martinsville for many years, he was walking along Lockport avenue on his way to attend the annual reunion of the company when he met his death. He was a member of the North Tonawanda Firemen's Benevolent Association. When found by Miles, he was lying face downward on the pavement, indicating that he had been instantly killed or so badly injured that he failed to move before expiring. Frieling was born in Wolcottsburg, N. Y. He came to the town of Pendleton when a small boy and resided there the rest of his life. He worked the greater part of the time at the plant of the Rudolph Wurlitzer Manufacturing Company. He is survived by three brothers, Ernest and Fred, who resided with him, Herman, North Tonawanda, and two sisters, Mrs Edward Kopp, North Tonawanda, and Miss Emelia Frieling, who resided at the homestead.
    Funeral Wednesday
    The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock front the residence and half an hour later from the St. Paul's church, on the Niagara Falls boulevard. Rev. F. A. Hinners will conduct the services and burial will be in the St. Paul's cemetery.

    Martinsville Resident Dies Suddenly
    Mrs. Minnie Caroline Frieling, 63 years old, died suddenly at her home on the Lockport road in Martinsville Wednesday morning. She was stricken with apoplexy while in her home and, before Dr. Jacob E. Helwig, who had been hurriedly called, arrived, she expired. Mrs. Frieling had been in poor health for some time. She is survived by four sons and two daughters, all of the Tonawandas. They are Mrs. Mary Kopp, Amelia, William, Ernest, Fred and Herman Frieling. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the house and a half hour later from St. Paul's church, the Rev. Phillip Laux officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul's cemetery.
