WILLIAMSVILLE — Ruth (nee Oswald) Grobe, age 93, of Williamsville and formerly of the City of Tonawanda, Tuesday, February 28, 2012, at Canterbury Woods in Williamsville. Born and raised in Tonawanda, she was the wife of Kenneth E. Grobe, who died in 1996; and was the sister of the late Allen Oswald. Ruth was a 1935 graduate of Tonawanda High School and received her degree in Business from Bryant and Stratton Business Institute. She had been employed as a Bookkeeper for State Trust in Tonawanda and was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, and Past President of Kenmore Mercy Guild.
She is survived by four children, Kenneth A. (Valerie) Grobe of Phoenix, AZ, Lenette R. (Stanley) Rook of Buffalo, Rev. Richard D. (Ruth) Grobe of Hartford, CT and Douglas J. (Linda) Grobe of Town of Tonawanda; eight grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call Friday only from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at John O. Roth Funeral Home, Inc., 25 William St. (between Morgan & Broad Sts.), in Tonawanda. Funeral services and burial will be private. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorial contributions may be made to Salem United Church of Christ or to the American Cancer Society.
