    North Bay. Feb 21—Albert S. An-
    nis, 68. Republican, supervisor of the
    town of Vienna, Lenox County, on
    the north shore of Oneida Lake, died
    suddenly at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at
    his home here, following an illness of
    over a year's duration..
    Mr. Annis was born in Redfield.
    Oswego County. March 16, 1855. He
    lived there until he was six years old,
    when he moved with his parents to
    North Bay, Oneida County, on Oneida
    Lake and there he has lived since.
    He was educated in the district school
    and as a young man he learned the
    trade of boat builder. His life work
    was building boats In the winter time
    and boating on the Erie Canal dur-
    ing the season of navigation. He was
    engaged in boat building for about 30
    years and during that time be built
    in all about 40 boats. He employed
    a goodly number of men and spent
    thouaaads of dollars in the town. He
    was engaged In boating for 47 year*.
    having at different times from one
    to four boats in operation. For
    years he carried salt from Syracuse
    to New York, but for the greatest
    part of the time he carried grain and
    lumber from Buffalo or Tonawada to
    New York. In March 1917 he re-
    tired from business.
    Republican in Politics
    Mr. Annis was Republican In poli-
    tics and stood well in the councils of
    his party. He represented the town
    of Vienna in the Board of Supervlsors
    In 1896-98 and served In the 1920-
    21 term on the committees of charities
    and correction, soldiers and sail-
    ors, county lands and highway ac-
    counts. He was for three winters a
    doorkeeper In the Assembly. 1896-00
    legislature. Mr. Annis was one of the
    oldest members of Vienna Lodge 440,
    F & A. M. which he had served as
    master. He was one of the leading
    business men of the town of Vienna
    and was held in the highest esteem
    by all. He had a wife acquaintance
    throughout the county and was popu-
    lar with the members of the Board of
    Supervisors.
    Mr. Annis married Miss Mertie Au-
    chard, who is living. He leaves two
    daughters, Mrs. Edith Wells of North
    Bay and Mrs. Ola Campbell of Oneida,
    and one brother, Atwell Annis of
    North Bay.
    The funeral will be held from the
    Methodist Church Saturday at 2 p.m.
    In charge of Vienna Lodge 440, F &
    A.M. Burial will be made in North
    Bay Cemetery.
