    ROME-Mrs. Maude E Well-
    man, 66, of 320 W. Bloomfield.
    died Feb. 16, 1955 at her home
    after a long illness.
    She was born July 9, 1878 in
    North Bay, daughter of Atwell
    and Anna Flanagan Annis. She
    was married to J.D.V.Wellman
    on Dec. 23, 1895. He died some
    time ago.
    Mrs. Wellman lived in Rome
    for the past 50 years and was a
    member of Zion Episcopal
    Church. She also was a member
    of Rebehak Lodge, the Skillen
    Relief Corps of Rome, the John
    Allendorf Court, Order of
    Amaranth and a life member of
    Holy Chapter, OES.
    She leaves a daughter, Mrs.
    Clarence E. Strowbridge, Rome;
    two sisters, Mrs. Guy W. Bow-
    man, Rome; Mrs. William Y.
    Hemingway, Westmoreland; and
    three grandchildren, Nancy A.,
    Clarence C. and Barbara J.
    Strowbridge, all of Rome.
    The funeral will be at 2 Sat-
    urday from the Griffin and Ald-
    ridge Funeral Home with the
    Rev. Charles Sykes, pastor of
    Zion Episcopal Church, offici-
    ating. Burial will be in Rome
    Cemetery.

    V. Wellman, 810 Floyd avenue,
    Rome, celebrated their 50th wed-
    ding anniversary, Sunday, Dec 23.
    Both were former residents of this
    place, Wellman being the for-
    mer Maud Annis, daughter of Mr.
    and Mrs. Atwell Annis, and Mr.
    Wellman is the son Of Mr. and Mrs.
    Wellman, North Bay rel-
    atives and friends extend con-
    gratulations.

    Rome, Dec. 6-James Atwell
    Annis, 76, of North Bay, ,died in-a
    local hospital last evening.
    He had lived there since a boy.
    He was engaged in boating on the
    Erie Canal years ago after which
    he followed the trade of a carpenter.
    He married Anna .Flanagan,
    daughter of the late Peter Flanagan
    who survives. also three daughters,
    Mrs. J. D. Wellman, Mrs. Wll-
    liam Hemmingway and Mrs. G. W.
    Bowman, all of this city.
    The funeral will be held at his
    late home North Bay where Interment
    will be made.

    Rome, Feb. 21—Mrs. Anna Annis.
    71. widow of Atwell Annls and for
    many years a resident of North
    Bay, died at the James A. Murphy
    Memorial Hospital this morning
    after an illness of several days,
    pneumonia being the cause of
    death.
    Mrs. Annia was formerly Miss
    Anna Stratton and was born at
    Jewell (West Vienna). She married
    Mr. Annis of North Bay more than
    50 years ago and most of their lives
    were passed there. Mr. Annis died in
    this city three months ago and
    since then Mrs. annis had resided
    with relatives here.
    She was a sister of the late James
    Flanagan, formerly treasurer of
    Oneida county and a former mem-
    ber of Assembly. Surviving are
    three children, Mrs. J. D. Wellman
    and Mrs. Guy Bowman, Rome; Mrs.
    William Hemmingway, Westmore-
    land; one sister, Mrs. W. B. Graves,
    and one brother, John F. Flana-
    gan, both of this city.
    She was a member of the First
    Methodist Church and of the North
    Bay Lodge of Rebekahs. The
    funeral will be held at 2 o'clock
    Friday at the late home in North
    Bay. Burial will be made there.
