POMPANO BEACH, FL — Jackie Lee Josey passed away on January 30, 2012 after a brief illness. She graduated from Niagara Falls H.S. (in New York) in 1979. She moved to South Florida in 1982. She was a bartender for many years in Hollywood, Ft. Lauderdale and Pompano Beach. Over the past 10 years, Jackie started a second career as a Dental Assistant/Receptionist. She most recently worked at Brown and Brown Dentistry in Pompano Beach.

Jackie is survived by her mother, Virginia Lee Josey of Lewiston, NY; her father, Jack Lee Josey of Deerfield Beach, FL; her brother, Christopher Lee Josey of Dania Beach, FL; her sisters, Cheryl Lee Josey of Tavares, FL (recently relocated from Lewiston, NY), Debra Lee Matiasz (Paul Matiasz) of Youngstown, NY, Cathy Lee (Peanut) Josey of Pompano Beach, FL; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. She will also be sadly missed by her partner of over five years, Michael Livermore of Pompano Beach, FL (originally from Austin, TX).

A Memorial Service was held at the American Legion Post 142 in Pompano Beach, FL, where Jackie was a longtime member and formerly Sergeant at Arms.

Virginia Lee "Jenny" Josey, 81, passed away on May 30, 2020 after a brief illness. She was a Lewiston, NY, resident, who spent part of the year in Tavares, FL. Jenny was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1938 in Bradford, PA.
Her family moved to Niagara Falls, NY, when she was a young girl. She attended Niagara Falls High School. Jenny worked for a number of years at Ambassador Leather Goods and later at Dearhead Mobile Homes, both in Niagara Falls.
She was married to Jack Lee Josey in 1956. Together, they had five children. Jenny was a championship bowler and she loved playing poker and euchre. She was a devoted fan of the Buffalo Bills and the Buffalo Sabres, but she loved watching all professional football and hockey games. Jenny was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.
Jenny was predeceased by her beloved mother, Iva Alberta Pierce; her father, Rudy Carlson; her sister, Joanne (Mills) Hargraves; her daughter, Jackie Lee Josey; and her lifelong best friend, Betty Gilroy. She is survived by her son, Christopher Lee Josey of Dania, FL; her daughters, Cheryl Lee Josey of Tavares, FL, Debra Lee (Paul) Matiasz of Youngstown, NY, and Cathy Lee Josey of Pompano Beach, FL; her sister, Jeanne (Mills) Lupher of Townville, PA; her brother, Terry (Donna) Pierce of Niagara Falls, NY; her granddaughters, Victoria Lee (PJ) McPartland of Hollywood, FL (recently moved to Ocoee, FL), and Kristen (Jason) Olenick of Niagara Falls, NY; and her grandsons, Daniel Matiasz and Steven Matiasz of Youngstown, NY.

Elsie (daughter of BURGESS, William H and GUINTHER, Laura Belle) was born on 26 Jun 1913 in Town of Lewiston, Niagara County, NY; died on 2 Oct 2005 in Tavares, Lake County, FL; was buried in Riverdale Cemetery, Town of Lewiston, Niagara County, NY. Elsie Viola (Burgess) Josey-Ferguson, age 92, of Tavares, FL, died Sunday, October 2, 2005 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in the Town of Lewiston on June 26, 1913, the daughter of the late William H. and Laura Belle [ Guinther ] Burgess, and raised in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY. Elsie graduated from North Junior High School and later Niagara Falls High School in 1931. She was married on September 4, 1932 to Jesse E. Josey Sr. , Master of Niagara River Lodge 785, in 1952, he predeceased her on May 18, 1976.

She was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter #355 for over 50 years, and a member of the First Christian Church on Niagara Avenue in Niagara Falls since 1927 and her parents had her on The Cradle Roll in 1915. Also, she was an associate member of Union Congregational Church in Tavares, FL. She married Clyde H. Ferguson in November of 1977 and they were married for 21 years prior to his death on April 17, 1999.

Surviving are three sons, Jesse "Bud" E. [ Marion] Josey Jr., of Tavares, FL.; Jack L. Josey, of Deerfield Beach, FL; and William A [ Juanita] Josey, of Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY; daughter-in-law, VA Josey, of Lewiston, Niagara County, NY; a daughter, Norma L. Josey-Camel [ Marvin] of Tavares, FL; a sister Nolita "Fern" Harding, of Highland Ranch, CO; 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her brother Norman W. Burgess.

The family will be present from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 PM, Friday, at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, NIAGARA FALLS, 1124 Ontario Avenue, where funeral services will be held Saturday, October 8th at 10:20 AM, with Rev. Jason Jones officiating. Burial will be in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston, Niagara County, NY.
