Several pre-nuptial affairs have been
given in honor of Miss Lucile Arnold,
whose marriage to Vernon Bateman
takes place on March first. Mrs. Clark
Aldrich delightfully entertained at her
Home on Thursday afternoon at a show-
er for Miss Arnold. On Saturday after-
noon, Miss Mabel Feathertsone also
gave. a kitchen shower for the bride-
elect, at the former's home In Lake'
Road Miss Arnold was the guest of
honor at a third shower, given by, the
Mystic Circle, of which she is a member.
The last occurred on Monday, at
Union M. E. chapel. Miss Arnold was
the recepient of many useful and beautiful
gifts.

A very pretty home wedding took
place on Wednesday, March 1, at
High Noon when Miss S. Lucille Arnold,
elder daughter of Supervisor
and Mrs. E. E. Arnold of Lake Road,
Somerset, became the wife of "Vernon
J. Bateman, youngest son of Mr. and
Mrs. L. M. Bateman. The Rev. A.
E. ^Mathews officiating in the presence
of about thirty guests. The
bridal pair were unattended. The
wedding march and other appropriate
musical numbers Were rendered
by Miss Pauline Arnold, sister
of the bride, at the piano and Miss
Lulu Arnold, violin, the bride's
cousin. The bride was becomingly
gowned in blue silk and carried
paper-white narcissi and pink roses.
Following the ceremony a wedding
breakfast was served, covers being
laid for twelve at the bride's table.
The decorations were in yellow and
white daffodils, yellow and white
place cards, etc. Mr. and Mrs.
Bateman left for a wedding trip to
New York City and other eastern
points. Upon their return they will
be at home in the Bateman road,
Somerset. Out of town guests were
Mr. and Mrs. Milford Arnold and
children, Melva May and Edwin E.,
of Ransomville.

BATEMAN-Lewis M. Bateman, 84,
died Sunday, Oct. 17. at his home
on the Hartland Road. Somerset.
He is survived by his wife, Minerva
Mathers Bateman; three sons, Howard.
Homer and Veron Bateman,
all of Somerset; a daughter, Louella
Hollands, of Kenmore. Mr. Bateman
was a charter member of Barker
IOOF Lodge. Funeral services
will be held at the home at 2:30
Tuesday. Interment in Hartland
Central Cemetery.

BARKER Mrs. Minerva
Batemaa, of Hartland Rd., died
Sunday (Oct. 4, 1959) at home
after a six-month illness. She
would have been 86 years old
today.
Born Oct 5. 1173 at Johnson
Creek Rd., Town of Hartland.
she was the daughter of John
and Jane Mather. She was married
March 1. 1892 to Lewis M.
Bateman who died Oct. 19. 1948.
She had lived at the Hartland
Rd. residence for 68 years.
During World War I, she
worked with the Red Cross,
sewing and making bandages.
She was a member of the Ladies
Aid Society and the Wesley
Class of Somerset Methodist
Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs
Luella Hollands, Kenmore; two
sons, Howard and Veron. both of
Barker; seven grandchildren
and eight great-grandchildren
Friends may call today at the
Hood Funeral Home. Barker,
where services will be held Tuesday
afternoon at 2. Burial will
be in Hartland Central Cemetery
The family suggests contributions
be made to the Somerset Methodist
Church Memorial Fund

BARKER, Sept. 7.-Edwin' E.
Arnold, 64 years old, former chairman
of the Niagara county Board of
Supervisors and one of the best known
fruit growers of the town of Somerset,
died late yesterday at the family
home in the Lake road near this village.
Mr. Arnold suffered & stroke
about a week ago which culminated
In his death.
Funeral services will be held from
the home on Friday afternoon at 3
o'clock, standard time. The Rev.
Ernest F. Scott, pastor of the Somerset
Methodist Episcopal church, will
officiate. Interment will be In Somerset
cemetery.
' Mr. Arnold was born In the house in which he died, a son of the late
Conroy and Sarah Arnold, pioneer
settlers of the town of Somerset. He
had been a farmer all his life and was
an active worker in the Somerset M. E.
church. lie formerly served as.
superintendent of the Sunday school
and held other Important positions In
the church.
- Mr- Arnold served as a member of
the Board of Supervisors for' 14 years
and as chairman for two years. He
was a member of Somerset Grange.
Mr. Arnold is survived by his
Wdow. Mrs. May Thayer Arnold; two
sons and two daughters, Milford. of
Orchard Park, Carleton, Mrs. Beron
Bateman and Mrs. Gerry Pask. all of
marker; eight grandchilden and one
Brother, Louis P. Arnold, of Barker.
