Frederick (Ted) Atwater went home to be with God on July 14, 2022. Ted was born in Lockport on May 11, 1938, son of the late Fred S. and Gladys (Stellrecht) Atwater. He started working on the family farm as a young boy and was instrumental in changing the focus from fruit farming to dairy. A graduate from Barker Central School in 1956 and Alfred State College with a degree in Animal Husbandry in 1958. He was awarded a scholarship from the Ralston Purina Co. which paid for part of his 2nd year of college. He built up a herd of Holstein cows and won many awards for milk production and quality.
December 27, 1963 he married Rose Marie (Eaton), and together they enjoyed dairy and sheep farming with their 4 children, who were active in 4-H. Frederick has been very active in West Somerset Baptist Church serving on many boards and committees over his lifetime. He was still a member of the Board of Trustees serving since he was a young adult. He encouraged many to serve God in Christian ministry.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years; Loving father to his 4 children, Andrew Frederick (Krista), Amy Beth (David) Hill, Steven Douglas (Stephanie), and Melissa Rose (Timothy) Hussey; Grandchildren Kara Ann, Elijah John (Katie), Lucas Charles, Tessa May Atwater, Matthew (Melissa) Hill and Nolan Hussey; Great-grandchildren Aubrey and Myles Hill, Lacus, Xeno, and Soren Atwater; sisters Suzanne Belling and Nancy (Robert) Paffenroth; sister-in-law, Linda (Louis) Greenwald; also many nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will begin on Sunday, July 17 at 2pm prior to the 3pm funeral service at West Somerset Baptist Church, 1876 Hosmer Road, West Somerset, NY. Burial will be at Somerset Cemetery on Monday, July 18 at 11am.

a cascade, of white sweetheart
roses and holly.

sister's maid of honor and

sister of the bridegroom;

bridesmaids.
