    LOCKPORT — John M. Shimshack, of Olcott, NY, entered into rest Monday, April 16, 2012 in Niagara Hospice House. He was born in Lockport, NY, November 10, 1941, the son of the late Albert and Sarah Mullaney Shimshack. John was a veteran of the US Army serving his country from 1965-1967. He was a Marketing Executive for Eastman Kodak in Rochester, NY for many years. John was an avid sailor and very active member in the Olcott Yacht Club and Rochester Yacht Club. Member of St. Brendan on the Lake, Olcott Site and was a devout Catholic.

    Father of Michael Shimshack of Nashville, TN and Jay Shimshack of New Orleans, LA. Grandfather of Mullaney and Marley Shimshack. Brother of Sallie (the late Gary) Thompson of Wilson, NY, Mary (Peter) Muller of Dundee, NY and Jean (Anthony) McKenna of Olcott, NY. Also survived by his first wife, Marianne Shimshack of Rochester, NY, second wife, Jennifer Shimshack of Hilton Head, SC; and several nieces and nephews.

    Friends may call at the RUTLAND-CORWIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2670 Main St., WEDNESDAY 3-7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated THURSDAY at 11:00 AM at St. Brendan on the Lake (Olcott Site) Main St., Olcott, NY. Memorial contributions to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094; or Melanoma Research Foundation, 1411 K Street NW, Suite 500, Washington, DC 20005, would be appreciated.

    Old Hornet Sting Fatal to Lockport Resident at 67
    LOCKPORT. May 1 - An infection resulting from a hornet sting suffered two years ago resulted in the death of Ferdinand Schimschack, 67, of 3 McCue avenue, today at Lockport City hospital. Mr. Schimschack's son, Albert P. Schimschack, 83 Beverly avenue, said his father was stung on the left ankle by a hornet. He spent several weeks in the hospital at the time but the infection was never fully cleared up and he had been in the hospital several times since. A native of Germany, Mr. Schimschack came to this country when he was one year old with-his parents, Mr. and Mrs. August Schimschack. who settled in Bergholtz. Fifty years ago he came to this city where he was employed for 28 years by the Richmond Manufacturing company and later for 17 years on the barge canal. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Schimschack; his son and three brothers, Herman and William, of Bergholtz, and Fred, of St. Johnsburg. The funeral will be held Thursday at 8:30 a. m. at the home of the son and at 9 o'clock at St. John's church. Interment will be in St. Patrick's cemetery.
