CITY OF TONAWANDA — Charles J. Oswald, "Jr.", age 81, of the City of Tonawanda, died on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at DeGraff Memorial Hospital. Born in Tonawanda, NY, to the late Charles J. "Chink" and Ruth (Forpahl) Oswald, he had been a lifelong resident of the City of Tonawanda, and was the father of the late Jay William Oswald; and brother of the late Richard Oswald. Mr. Oswald had been employed by Spaulding Fibre in the City of Tonawanda for 43 years, retiring when the company closed. He was a US Marine Veteran of the Korean War, and a member of Tonawandas' Post 264 American Legion. Charles was a past president and charter member of the Gastown Sportsmens Club in the City of Tonawanda. An avid hunter and fisherman, he also was an instructor for New York State Hunter Safety Courses.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Delores Ann (nee Grupe) Oswald; two children, Sheila (Jerry) Cole of the Town of Wheatfield, and Charles J. (Sheryl) Oswald III of the City of Tonawanda; six grandchildren, Jason (Erin) and Justin (Michelle) Cole, Shauna (Steve Crist) Oswald, Jessica (Bill) Simon, Cassie Oswald, and Charles Oswald IV; and two brothers, Leroy (Ethel) Oswald of the City of Tonawanda, and Wayne (Betty) Oswald of Sanborn, NY. He was also survived by eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Family will be present on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at JOHN O. ROTH FUNERAL HOME, INC., 25 William St. (between Morgan and Broad Sts.) City of Tonawanda, where a funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, May 2nd at 10 AM. Friends invited. Rev. Patrick McKenzie will officiate. Burial in Acacia Park Cemetery will be private. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Delores was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday (September 21), from 3-7 PM, at JOHN 0. ROTH FUNERAL HOME, INC., 25 William St. (between Morgan and Broad Sts.), in Tonawanda, where a Funeral Service will be conducted at 7 PM, Tuesday, following the calling hours.
