    Mary Byrne Sy of Lockport, NY passed away on Monday April 3, 2017 at Beechwood Continuing Care after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born on August 6, 1937 in Lockport, she was the daughter of Joseph and Frances Murphy Byrne. Mary graduated high school from St. Joseph’s Academy and college from SUNY Oswego. She married Thomas E. Sy on November 21, 1959 and he predeceased her in 2002. Mary was Co-Director and teacher of Nursery School at Emmanuel United Methodist Church for over 25 years, retiring in 1999. She was active in area civic organizations including Lockport College Women’s Club, Lockport Junior Service League and St. Patrick’s Altar and Rosary Society. Mary enjoyed reading, playing bridge, travel and time with family.

    Mary was predeceased by her husband, Thomas E. Sy; son, Timothy (Ann) Sy; grandchildren, Mathew and Heather Sy and siblings, John, Joseph and Nancy Byrne. She is survived by her sons, Thomas (Diane) Sy and Michael (Bridget) Sy and grandchildren, Ashley Sy (Brett) Roesler, Rachael, Brianne, Madeline, Jessica and Samantha Sy.

    Friends may call on Thursday 3:00 – 7:00 PM at LANGE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 186 East Ave., Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 9:30 AM at All Saint R.C. Parish, 76 Church St., Lockport. Interment in Glenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Assoc of WNY, 2805 Wehrle Dr., Ste 6, Williamsville,NY 14221 or Aspire of WNY, 2356 North Forest, Getzville, NY 14068.     floral appliques. The wedding
    gown was styled with
    a scoop neckline, short
    sleeves and cathedral-length
    train.
    Miss Nancy Byrne, maid
    of honor, Was attired in a
    gown of rose glow velvet
    with scoop neckline and
    street-length full skirt. A
    bow headpiece with veil of
    matehing color, and a bouquet
    of deep red carnations
    and pink pompons completed
    her ensemble.

    bridesmaids, wearing ensembles
    styled similarly to
    the honor attendant's They

    Langton.

    fall flowers graced the
    Oriental Room of the Park
    Hotel for an afternoon rev
    ception.
    When they return from a
    wedding trip to Florida, the
    newlyweds will be at home

    LCK:KPORT-Funeral services
    for Thomas Fitzsimmons, 83,
    former deputy city clerk, will be
    held Wednesday morning.' A
    solemn Requiem Mass at 9:30 a.
    m. in St. Patrick's Church will follow
    prayers at 9 o'clock at the
    Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home.
    Burial will be in St. Patrick's
    Cemetery.
    Mr. Fitzsimmons. who died Saturday
    (Aug. 31, 1957),held the
    city post for 32 years, retiring in
    1934.
    He is survived by a son, R. Murray
    Filzsimmons, and a daughter,
    Mrs. Elwood H. Sy, both of this
    city; three brothers, William Fitzsimmons,
    Buffalo, John R. Fitzsimmons,
    Cleveland, and Walter
    J. Fitzsimmons, Lake Worth, Fla„
    and two sisters. Mrs. Chauncey R.
    Heath and Miss Genevieve Fitzsimmons,
    both of Buffalo.
