    YOUNGSTOWN, March 5-
    Charles F. Balcom, 68, died suddenly
    of a heart attack at his home at Ft.
    Niagara beach. The Youngstown
    Volunteer Fire company first aid
    crew was called but Mr. Balcom
    failed to respond to treatment.
    He was born in the Town of Porter
    and operated farms in this area
    until his retirement several years
    ago. Last summer his home, in the
    C'tek road near Tower's Corners,
    v.as burned to the ground and a
    new home, under construction, is
    nearly completed Mr. Balcom is
    a former member of Fort Niagara
    Lodge. IOOF.
    He is survived by his wife, Daisy
    Balcom: three daughters, Mrs. Henry
    F. Myers. Belgium: Mrs. Elwin Stol-
    zenberg. Burt, and Mrs. James Brosman.
    this village; six sons. Lorelle,
    Ransomville; Russell. Barker: Virgil.
    Rochester, Charles and Loren,
    both of this village, and Paul, at
    home: 14 grandchildren and three
    sisters. Mrs. Farl Myers. Miss Libby
    Hotchkin and Mrs Burt Langdon,
    all of Ransomville.
    Funeral services will be held Wed-
    nesday at 2 p.m. at the Hardison
    Funeral home, Ransomville. The
    Rev. A.C. French, of St. John's
    Episcopal church, will officiate. In-
    terment will be in Oakland Rural
    cemetery.

    BARKER-Mrs. Daisy M. Balcom,
    82, of 7878 Haight Road,
    died Wednesday (July 1, 1970)
    at Ransomville General Hospital
    after a long illness.
    A former resident of the Creek
    Road, Youngstown, Mrs. Balcom
    was born July 4, 1887, in
    Lewiston, daughter of Mathias
    and Marietta Van Luven. She
    was the widow of the late
    Charles Balcom.
    She was a member of the Rebekah
    Lodge No. 459 of Lewiston,
    the Lewiston-Porter Golden
    Age Club and the Fillmore United
    Methodist Church.
    She is Survived by six sons,
    Lorelle Balcom, Ransomville;
    Russell and Paul Balcom of
    Barker; Virgil Balcom of Rochester,
    and Charles, and Loren
    Balcom of Youngstown; three
    daughters, Mrs. Lila Myers,
    Youngstown; Mrs. Grace Stolzenberg
    of Burt, and Mrs. Nor-
    man Brasnan, Niagara Falls;
    34 grandchildren and 30 greatgrandchildren.
    Funeral services will be held
    Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Hardison
    Funeral Home, Ransomville,
    with the Rev. Frank Mac-
    Laughlin of the United Methodist
    Church officiating. Burial
    will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
    Friends may call from 7 to 9
    p.m. todya and 2 to 5 and 7 to 9
    p.m. Friday.

    RANSOMVILLE, Oct. 19-Elton L.
    Tryon, one of the most widely known
    residents of Niagara county, died
    from a heart attack at his home
    here yesterday afternoon. He was
    64 years old and had been In the
    bartering and cigar business here for
    the last 40 years.
    Mr. Tryon "was a grandson of
    Thomas Tryon. one of Ransomville's
    first settlers, who came here from
    Connecticut more than a century
    ago. He had lived in Ransomville
    all his life and was a leader in business
    and fraternal affairs throughout
    the county. He was the first
    president of the Ransomville Volunteer
    Fire department and a member
    of the Exempt Firemen and local
    lodges of Eagles. Orioles. Moose and
    Modern Woodmen of the World.
    He was a lifelong Democrat and
    had served as constable and deputy
    town clerk in the Town or Porter.
    He is survived by three daughters,
    Mrs. Otto Prigge and Mrs. Bernard
    Guirey, of-Niagara Falls, and Mrs
    Lorelle Balcom, of Ransomville, and
    three grandchildren. Robert and
    Jack Prigge and Marilyn Balcom.
    Funeral services will be held at his
    late residence, Estes place, at 2:30
    pjn. Saturday, with the Rev. Ernest
    A. Sergel officiating. Burial will be
    in North Ridge cemetery.
