    Notes:

    From Adamsdross@aol.com

I am looking at my property deed.

In it will of John Wendler.

    Dated 8-1-1911
John devises all of his personal property and estate to: His 9 children; Anna Eshelman, August Wendler, Gustavus Wendler, John Wendler, William F. Willian F. Wendler, Minnie Bollman, Emma BAld, Matilda Phillips and Elsie Altro.

Note Altro is a shortened version of Altrogge. IN our nearby cemetery, the two are mixed on the same lot.

John Wendler has a prominent stone ht e Clarence Center cemetery. The stone has a big anchor on it which I suppose symbolizes something. This John Wendler at one time owned the land which I a sitting on. Of course it was part of a big farm then. He bought the land in 1891.

The probate lists the children with his WIDOW, Louisa. Also Gustave W. Wendler died insteatate on or about 12-12-1916. Leaving his wife Elizabeth M., Ellen R. Wendler 20 years of age, Burton J. Wendler aged 14 years.

Affidavit of John Wendler. Tah he is the son of John Wendler that Louisa Wender, his mother died on or about 3-26-1922. Sworn 4-27-1928

Affidavit of Matilda M Phillipps That she is a daughter of John Wendler and that John Wendler died in May 1914 leaving a will and testament. That Gustavus W. Wendler, son of John died in 1916. also That Matilda M. Phillipps, dau. of John if the wife of Edwin L. Philipps. Affadvit given 4-26-1928.

John Wendler John's son was the executor of the will of his dad. He conveys the property to Robert Eichinger and Katherine his wife. They conveyed the property fo Ida Christiansen to conveyed it to Florence Eichinger who conveeyed it to Howard and Florence, His wife.

The premises conveyed are not the big farm that Mr. John Wendler and Louisa started with. Along the awy parts were sold off. Howard and Florence, I knew them personally, conveyed the property, bare land. to Paul and Patrica Leous. They split up be the property reverted to Howard and Florence. They sold the and to my wife and myself, in 1973. Florence and Howard were siblings. Florence married Mr. Gieb. They then gave lots to their children. That is why across from us, there were 3 Gieb families. One moved away due to divorce but we have two nice neighbors now.

You may be able to make some connections with these Wendlers. The children of John and Louisa and their progeny are still around the North Clarence area and nearby Niagara Co. Tge land is just, literally, a stones throw across the creek from Niagara Co.

John married Louisa about 1864. Louisa was born in Sep 1845 in Prussia; died about 26 Mar 1922 in Town of Clarence, Erie County, NY. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
