NEWFANE — Gertrude M. Dettmer (Baldwin), age 91, entered into rest at Eastern Niagara Hospital in Newfane, Sunday, May 5, 2013. Born June 6, 1921 in Lockport, Gert was the daughter of the late Raymond and Christine (Suttell) Baldwin.
Gert married Wilbert "Bill" Dettmer August 31, 1940 in Somerset. Bill died November 10, 1986. She had worked at Newfane Central Schools as a custodian for 10 years, retiring in 1983.
Besides her husband, Bill, Gert was predeceased by siblings, Eleanor Zastrow, Ruth Zastrow, Ninerva Porter and Raymond Baldwin. She is survived by several nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
There will be no prior visitation. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Hartland Central Cemetery, Gasport, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to a charity of one's choice.

announce the engagement of
their daughter, Gertrude Marie, to
Wilbert Dettmer, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Edward Dettmer, of Hartland
Corners. The marriage will take
place tn the near future.

HARTLAND CORNERS - Gertrude
Marie Baldwin, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Baldwin, of
the Hoffman road, town of Somerset,
and Wilbert George Dettmer. of
the Orangeport road, Hartland,
were united in marriage Saturday
at 4 o'clock at the home of the
bride's parents. The Rev. William
H. Smith, of Hartland Methodist
church, performed the ceremony.
Mrs. George Steirher played the
wedding music.
The bride wore a gown of white
satin and carried a bouquet of white
lilies and bride's roses. Mrs. Wilbert
Zastrow and Miss Purla Bates
were the bride's attendants. Mrs.
Zastrow wore a gown of aqua silk
marquisette and carried yellow
chrysanthemums with blue delphiniums
and white gypsophila. Miss
Bates wore a gown of pink organdy
and carried a bouquet of the same
flowers with pink roses added.
The groomsmen were Kenneth
Werth and Leonard E. Dettmer. The
bride's mother wore a dress of royal
blue crepe and the groom's mother
wore navy blue lace. Each wore
rose corsages. After the ceremony a
wedding dinner was served to 52
guests and in the evening an open
reception was given. Mr. and Mrs.
Dettmer will reside with the bride's
parents on the Hoffman road.
