    CAMBRIA — Lydia E. (Smith) Fritz, age 66, of Cambria, entered into rest on June 1, 2012 at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Born in Oakland, California on July 18, 1945 to the late Perry and Doris (Lutz) Smith.

    Lydia came to the Western New York area at a young age and attended local schools. She was employed at Orleans-Niagara BOCES for many years and enjoyed reading and going to garage sales.

    Survivors include her loving husband of 50 years, Ronald J. Fritz; two children, Thaddius (Sharon) Fritz of Laramie, Wyoming and Cynthia Jones of Lockport; four grandchildren; a sister, Kathy (Ronald) Steadt; and a brother, Perry (Cindy) Smith, both of Wheatfield.

    A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date to be announced. Memorial contributions may be made to the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Lydia's name. Arrangements are by the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME.

    TOWN OF WHEATFIELD — Rose E. Fritz (West), age 98, of Wheatfield, entered into rest on December 4, 2011, at the Elderwood Health Care at Crestwood facility. Born in North Tonawanda, NY on September 13, 1913, the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Steingasser) West. Rose graduated from North Tonawanda High School in 1931 and went to work at the Wurlitzer Company, where she met and married Glenn E. Fritz in 1940. She became a dedicated homemaker, raising two sons. During the 1950's, she worked for Pivot Punch and Die Corp. Rose loved gardening and had a beautiful yard filled with flowers. She also enjoyed bowling, golfing and, mostly, Yellow Pike fishing with her husband. Rose drove a car for 75 years and never had a ticket or accident. In 2007, she moved into Elderwood at Crestwood, where she enjoyed life until her death.

    Survivors include her two sons, Terry G. (Jill) and Ronald J. (Lydia) Fritz; four grandchildren, Tracy (Dale) Selbert, Jeffrey (Lisa) Fritz, Cynthia Jones and Thaddeus Fritz; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Rose was predeceased by her husband, Glenn, in 1997; a sister, Marie Miskho and brother, Frank West.

    Rose requested in lieu of flowers or donations, just to say a prayer for her. If you wish to make a donation, she supported Niagara Hospice. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date to be announced. Arrangements were by the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME.

    Within 12 Hours
    NORTH TONAWANDA, Sept.
    20—Two brothers, pioneer residents
    of the Martinsville area, died
    within 12 hours of each other after
    long illnesses.
    Louis H. Fritz, 84, of Shawnee
    Rd., Town of Wheatfield, a retired
    farmer, died Saturday afternoon
    in his home. He was a member
    of St. John's Lutheran Church,
    Rescue Hose Co., and the Firemen's
    Benevolent Assn.
    He is survived by his wife
    Eleanor Fritz; seven daughters,
    Mrs. Henry Berndt; Mrs. Geahart
    Ooerss, Mrs. Henry Laucheur,
    Mrs, Albert Prill, Mrs. Clarence
    Miller, Miss Eleanor Fritz and
    Miss Vera Fritz; four sons, Alvin
    Fritz, Louis Fritz Jr., Clarence
    Fritz and LeRoy Fritz; a brother.
    George Fritz, all of the Tonawandas.
    Funeral services will be held at
    2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the residence.
    The Rev. Walter Thiemecke
    will officiate with interment in
    White Chapel Memorial Park
    cemetery.
    Julius C Fritz, 98, of 5230 Old
    Falls Blvd. died yesterday morning
    in the Hilltop Nursing Home in
    Gasport. He was employed by the
    Wurlitzer Manufacturing Co. for
    many years, retiring 26 yean ago.
    He was a member of St Paul's
    Lutheran Church, a charter member
    and the oldest member of
    Rescue Hose Co. and a member
    of the Firemenns Benevolent Assn.
    His wife, the late Ida Sydow,
    died in 1952. He is survived by
    six sons, Walter Fritz, Alfred
    Fritz, Norman Fritz, Carl Fritz,
    Arthur Fritz and Glen Fritz; five
    daughters, Mrs. Albert Strassburg,
    Mrs. Charles Kaminski, Mrs. John
    Zatsrow, Mrs. Joseph Gorman,
    Mrs. Henry Ellman; a brother
    George Fritz, all of the Tonawandas.

    MRS. IDA A. FRITZ, 79, 523 Falls Blvd., wife of Julius C. Fritz, died yesterday in DeGraff Memorial Hospital. A native of North Tonawanda, Mrs. Fritz was the mother of 11(sic) children. Survivng are her husband, Julius C., six sons: Walter, Alfred, Norman, Carl, Arthur and Glenn; five daughters, Mrs. Albert Strassburg, Mrs. Charles Kaminski, Mrs. John Zastrow, Mrs. Joseph Gorman, Mrs. Henry Ellman; 22 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Also surviving are five sisters: Mrs. Pauline Veler, Toledo, Va., Mrs. Fred Merchant and Mrs. Minnie Benson, Marshall, Mich.; Mrs. Amelia Mummert, Brustus, Mich.; Mrs. Elizabeth West, Chicago, Ill.; five brothers: Herman and John Sydow, Lansing, Mich.; William and Carl Sydow, Brutus, Mich., and Walter Sydow, Petrowsky, Mich. Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the family residence. The Rev. Fred A. Hinners will officiate. Burial in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.
