unexpectedly Thursday
(Sept. 30. 1982) at his
residence Born in Sault
Ste. Marie. Mich., he had
been a resident of Tonawanda
the past 50 years,
and was the husband of
Gertrude C (nee Balling )
Clifford who died November
1981 and was the
brother of the late May
Telford, Sadie Sargent,
Austin, Patrick and John
Clifford. Mr. Clifford had
been employed as head
custodian at Tonawanda
Jr. High School for eleven
years, retiring in 1970. A
Navy veteran of World
War II, he was a member
of St. Francis of Assisi
Church, Tonawandas Post
264, American Legion,
Frontiersmen Post 7545,
VFW, Tonawanda Lodge
860, BPOE and was a 50
year member of Gratwick
Hose Co.
Mr. Clifford is survived
by several nieces and
nephews.
There will be no prior
visitation. Relatives and
friends are cordially invited
to attend a funeral
service at John O. Roth
Funeral Home, Morgan
and William Sts., Tonawanda
Saturday (Oct. 2nd)
at 11 a.m. Burial will be in
Mount Olivet Cemetery. In
lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made
to the Heart Assoc, of
W.N.Y

announce the marriage of Mr.
Balling's sister, Miss Gertrude
Balling, Tonawanda, to Archibald
Clifford, also of Tonawanda.
The bride is the daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Balling
Sr.
The wedding took place at 10
a.m. yesterday in St. Francis of
Assist Church. The Rev. Francis
Barratta officiated.
Attendants for the couple were
Mrs. Jacob Balling and the bride-
groom's brother, John Clifford of
Grimsby, Ont., Canada. The bride
was given in marriage by her god-
father, Joseph Schmidt, of Philadel-
phia.
After a wedding trip, Mr. and
Mrs. Clifford will be at home, Aug.
15, in 342 Grove St.
