    NORTH TONAWANDA-
    Spencer P. Carney. 61, of .12
    Payne Ave., died unexpected-
    ly Thursday (Aug. 23, 1960)
    while driving his car in Harlem
    Rd. at Sheridan Drive.
    Town of Amherst. Erie County.
    Erie County Medical Examiner
    James J. Creighton telephoned
    Amherst police and
    reported Mr. Carney suffered
    no apparent injury but that
    the victim had suffered a
    heart attack.
    Carney's auto, veering out
    of control, sped across. Sheridan
    through a red light into
    moving traffic. His car struck
    another v e h i c l e causing
    minor injuries to the occupants.
    Mr. and Mrs. Robert
    Donohue, of Williamsville.
    They were treated in Sisters
    Hospital, Buffalo and released.
    Amherst police said the
    Carney car was northbound
    in Harlem Rd. The light for
    Harlem traffic w a s red and
    traffic in Sheridan was be-
    ginning to move when Carney's
    ato shot into the traffic.
    It came to rest in shrubbery
    along Sheridan Dr .
    Mr. Carney was a lifelong
    resident of this city and was
    employed as a plumber. He
    was a member of St. Francis
    of Assisi Church.
    Survivors include his wife,
    Sophia Balling Carney; two
    sons, James and Jack Carney,
    both of this city; two daugh-
    ters, Mrs. Floyd Meyers,
    Hayes, this city and six
    grandchildren.
    Prayers will be said at
    8:30 a.m. Saturday at the
    Hamp Funeral Home, follow-
    ed by Requiem Mass at 9 in
    St. Francis Church. Burial
    will be in Mt. Oliver Ceme-
    tery.

    61, of 12 Payne Ave., North Tonawanda,
    died unexpectedly Thursday
    (Aug. 25, 1960). Born in Tonawanda,
    Mr. Carney was a resident
    of the Tonawandas all his life.
    He was employed as a plumber
    and was a member of St. Francis
    of Assisi Church. Surviving are his
    wife, Sophia (nee Balling)
    Carney; two sons, James and Jack
    Carney, and a daughter, Mrs. Roger
    Hayes, all of the Tonawandas;
    another daughter, Mrs. Floyd
    Meyers of Lockport, and six
    grandchildren. Friends may call
    at the Hamp Funeral Home Inc.,
    37 Adam St., Tonawanda, where
    prayers will be said at 8:30 a.m.
    Saturday, followed by a Requiem
    High Mass in St. Francis of Assisi
    Church at 9 a.m., the Rev.
    William Yaeger officiating. Burial
    in Mt. Olivet Cemetary.
