    The marriage of Miss Margaret
    Wilson Joyce, daughter of Mr. and
    Mrs. Douglas Joyce of Tremont
    street, and Norman A. Balling, son
    of Mrs. Magdalena Balling of
    Tonawanda, was solemnized on
    Saturday, November 17, at 10 a.m.
    in St Francis Church, The Rev. I.
    G. Speidel, of St Gerards Church,

    Buffalo, officiated at the ceremony..
    Given in marriage by her fattier,
    the bride wore a gown, combining
    a white satin bodice, and
    full marquisette skirt, over satin
    and net. Tiny ruffles outlined the
    neckline and waist and the skirt
    extended into a train. A full
    length veil of illusion was caught
    with bands of pearls. She carried
    a shower bouquet of white roses
    and baby mums.
    Miss Helen Ann Joyce, the
    bride's sister was maid-of-honor
    wearing pink gown, fashioned
    with moire bodice and full net
    skirt. She wore a matching heartshaped
    net hat and carried a bouquet
    of deep red roses and white
    mums.
    Leonard Balling was his brother's
    best man.
    Mrs. Joyce, the bride's mother,
    selected a brown dress with turquois
    trim and brown accessories
    ant a corsage of bronze roses and
    mums. Mrs. Balling chose a blue
    crepe dress with blue accessaries
    and a corsage of white roses and
    yellow mums.
    A wedding breakfast for the
    immediate families was served in
    Hotel Sheraton, Buffalo, followed
    by a reception in the home of the
    bride's parents. The attractive
    buffet table was centered with
    b&cy mums, arranged in a series
    of, small crystal vases flanked by
    tall white tapers.
    Mr and Mrs. Balling left for a
    wdeding trip to Washington, D. C.
    and Flo:ida. Mr. Balling recently
    received his discharge after serving
    4-1/2 years as an Army sergeant.
    He saw overseas duty in
    tlia European theater.

    Jacob Balling, aged 49 years, died
    suddenly at ten o'clock Thursday e v e
    n i n g at h i s home, 842 Grove street.
    Mr. Balling worked as bricklayer for
    Morris and A l l a n , building contractors
    He was talking over some working

    plans with his family when he stepped
    i n t o the kitchen and fell dead. He
    was born ln Germany and lived here
    for 43 years. Surviving are a wife.
    eight sons. M. Joheph, Henry, Fred,
    Leo, Leonard, Walter, Norman and
    Jacob Balling, Jr. four daughters.
    Florence and Gertrude Balling, Mrs.
    Spencer Carney and Mrs. Miles Brown
    and three grandchildren, all of the
    Tonawandas. He was president of the
    Holy Name Society of St. Francis
    church and of the Bricklayers' Union.
    No. 49, of the Tonawandas, at tne
    time of his death. Funeral services
    will be held Monday morning at 8:30
    o'clock from the residence and a t 9
    o'clock at St. Francis church. interment
    will be in St. Francis cemetery.
    Very Rev. John A. Weismantel
    will officiate.

    Mrs. Magdalena Balling, 74. of
    342 Grove St., fifty years a resi-
    dent of Tonawanda, died this
    morning in DeGraff Memorial
    Hospital after a short illness.
    Born in Germany, Mrs. Balling
    came to the United States
    when she was seven years old.
    She is the mother of four daugh
    ters and eight sons. Seven sons
    are associated with their brother
    Henry J. Balling, prominent
    contractor. She was the widow
    of the late Jacob Balling.
    Mrs. Balling was a member
    of St. Francis Church and the
    Altar and Rosary Societies of
    the church.
    Daughters surviving are Mrs.
    Spencer Carney, Mrs. Florence
    Karkow and Miss Gertrude Balling
    of the Tonawandas; Mrs.
    Frances Brown of Englewood,
    Fla. Her sons are M. Joseph,
    Henry J., Fred, Leo, Leonard,
    Walter, Norman and Jacob, all
    of the Tonawandas. Also surviving
    are 28 grandchildren and
    four great-grandchildren.
    A prayer service will be conducted
    in the residence Friday
    at 9 a.m. and the Rt. Rev. Msgr.
    John A. Weismantel will sing a
    solemn high Requiem Mass at
    9:30 in St, Francis Church. Burial
    will be in St. Francis Cemetery.

    Michael Balling, a well known resident of Tonawanda, died at
    the home of his son Jacob Balling of 343 Grove street last night
    The funeral will be held from St Francis church tomorrow morning,

    Mrs. Sophia Balling, 71 years old,
    wife of Michael Balling of Tonawanda
    died at the family home at No. 240
    Grove street this morning after a brief
    illness. She was born in Germany and
    had lived in Tonawanda nearly 50
    years. One son, Jacob Balling of Tonawanda,
    and nine grandchildren, besid-
    es the husband survive. The funeral
    will be held from the family home at
    8:30 o'clock Saturday morning and
    half hour later from the Saint Francis
    church on Adam street, the Rev. A. A.
    Bachmann officiating. Burial will be
    in Saint Francis cemetery.
