    Mr. and Mrs. Stuary Gleasman of
    Clinton celebrated their silber an-
    niversary by being the guests of
    honor at two family gatherings.
    Stuart Gleasman and the former
    Thelma Barringer, both of Ava,
    were married at the home of the
    bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sey-
    mour Barringer, on June 11, 1938.
    They have two sons, Ronald, who
    is in San Francisco, Calif., and
    Carl at home. The attendants at
    their wedding were Mr. Gleasman's
    brother, Howard Gleasman, and
    Mrs. Gleasman's sister, Mrs. Harry
    Hartson.
    Mr. Gleasman's family recently
    met with Mr. and Mrs. Howard
    Gleasman and family, Boonville,
    where a picnic dinner was employed.
    Those attending were Mrs. Dora
    Gleasman, Mr. and Mrs. Mark
    Youngs and family, Boonville; Mr.
    and Mrs. Ralph Gleasman, Mr. and
    Mrs. Keith Kleasman and Mr. and
    Mrs. Harold Platt, Turin.
    Mrs. Gleasman's family met at
    the Gleasman camp, on the Moose
    River Road recently with a picnic
    dinner. Those attending were Mr.
    and Mrs. Harry Hartson and
    grandson, David Flint, West
    Branch; Wallace Barringer and
    children, Gial, June and Robert,
    Stittville; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert
    Ringwald and son, Ava; Mr. and
    Mrs. Sam Spinella, Mrs. Rosemaary
    Fielder and sons, Stanwix Heights
    and S/Sgt and Mrs. John Spinella
    and children enroute from an air
    base in Texas to a three year stay
    at an air base in Germany.
    Ronald Gleasman was unable to
    attend either gathering.

    Barringer, 76, who had been
    town clerk, highway superintendent
    and justice of the peace
    fov Town of Ava, died suddenly
    at his home, 103 South St.. here',
    'at noon March 11, 1956. Oneida
    County Coroner Preston Clark
    pronounced death due to cor-
    onary occlusion.
    Mr. Barringer was also a wel-
    fare officer for several years and
    served as trustee of School Dis-.
    trict 6, Town of Ava, for many
    years.
    He was born in Town of Lee
    on May 6, 1879, a son of C. Ham-
    ilton and Martha Haynes Bar-
    ringer. He was twice married.
    He married Etta Tuttle on
    March 18, 1903 in Ava, by the
    Rev. George Dermont. She died
    May 23, 1916. He married Edna
    Brandis on Feb. 26, 1949, at
    the clinton Methodist Church, by
    the Rev. Alden Smith.
    He spent his early life in Town
    of Ava, where he owned a farm
    at Flint town.
    Since moving here in 1942,
    Mr. Barringer had worked for
    Oneida County Reforestation and
    had worked at the Elsasser Loom
    Works here the last several
    years.
    Mr. Barringer was a member
    of Ava Methodist Church, Boon-
    ville grange 1547, a charter
    member of the Maccabees of
    West Leyden and Summit Lodge
    IOOF, Boonville.
    He leaves his wife; four daugh-
    ters, Mrs. Herbert Ringwald of
    Ava, Mrs. Samuel Spinelli of
    Six, Mrs. Stuart Gieseman of
    Clinton, Mrs. Harry Hartson of
    West Branch; a son, Wallace
    Barringer of Ava; a step-daugh-
    ter, Judith Brandis, at home; 13
    grandchildren; three great grand-
    children; a sister, Mrs. Burton
    Hurlbut of Boonville; several
    nieces and nephews.
    The funeral will be at 2 Wed-
    nesday from the Trainor Funeral
    Home here with the Rev. Elton
    Parker, Boonville Methodist pas-
    tor, officiating. Burial will be in
    Ava Cemetery.

    - Wednesday oc
    curred the death of C. Hamilton
    Barringer. 87, highly respected resident,
    at the home of his son, Seymour
    W. Barringer, after a short
    illness.
    Mr. Barringer had been a resident
    of Ava for 50 years. He -was
    a, son of the late David and Ellen
    Roberts Barringer and was born
    in Troy, Nov. 21. 1845. He came
    with his parents to Highmarket at
    the age of one year. Later the family
    settled in Constableville, where
    Mr. Barringer's father built the
    blacksmith shop now known as the
    Traxel shop. On Jan. 15, 1878. he
    was united in marriage with Miss
    Martha Haynes at North Western
    by Rev. Williams. They first settled
    in Lee Center, later coming to
    Ava, where Mr. Barringer was engaged
    in fanning. Mrs. Barringer
    died Feb. 23, 1925', The deceased
    was a lifelong Democrat and was
    actively interested in the affairs
    of his town. He attended the Ava
    M. E. Church. He was the oldest
    of a family of 11 children.
    Surviving are two daughter, Mrs.
    Newton Tiffany and Mrs. Burton S.
    Hurlbut, and one son, Seymour W.
    Barringer, of Ava; 16 grandchildren,
    eight great - grandchildren;
    one sister, Mrs. Emma Douglass;
    two brothers, Jefferson and Myron
    Barringer, all of Rome.
    Funeral services will be held on
    Saturday, Oct. 28, at 2 p. m., at the
    home of his son, Seymour W. Barringer.
    Interment in Ava Cemetery.

    Ava, February 25-Mrs. Martha
    Haynes, 65, wife of C. H. Barringer,
    died at her home about one mile
    west of this village Monday, Febru-
    ary 12.
    Mrs. Barringer had not been in
    the best of health for some time
    and during the last few days she
    failed rapidly. Her death came as
    a shock to a wife circle of friends.
    For over 20 years her work as a
    nurse had brought her in close con-
    tact with the people throughout
    this region. Mrs. barringer was
    never too busy to lend a helping
    hand to others during those in
    sickness or trouble, and there are
    many who have good reason to re-
    member some act of kindness
    prompted by a rare thoughtfulness
    of others, which was one of her
    strongest characteristics.
    She was an attendant of the M.
    E. Church and also a member of
    the Ava Home Bureau.
    Mrs. barringer was the daughter
    of the late Archibald M. and Mary
    Logal Haynes, and was born in the
    town of Western, June 8, 1859.
    January 15, 1878, she was mar-
    ried to C. H. Barringer, who sur-
    vives.
    For 12 years the family has re-
    sided in Ava.
    Beside her husband there survive
    one son, Seymour Barringer of Ava;
    two daughters, Mrs. Newton Tiffany
    of Boonville and Mrs. B. S. Hurl-
    burt, Ava; 16 grandchildren; one
    brother, Julian Haynes, Eulalville;
    one sister, Mrs. margaret Noyes,
    Oneida; one half sister, Mrs. Mary
    Gilbert, Cape Vincent; three half
    brothers, Henry Haynes, North
    Western, Frank Haynes, Water-
    town, and Wyman Haynes, Herki
    mer.
    Funeral services will be held at
    her late home Saturday at 1 p.m.
    interment in Ava cemetery.
