    A A A William L. "Bill" Flanders, 87, passed away peacefully at his home in Venice, FL, on December 2, 2021. He was born on April 2, 1934 in Lockport, NY, to Howard C. and Lillian M. (Gardei) Flanders.
    Bill was a loyal husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He graduated from Lockport Senior High School in 1951, and Kettering University (formerly General Motors Institute) in 1958. He worked at Harrison Radiator division of General Motors Corporation as an Industrial Engineer from 1952-1991, after which he retired and moved to Venice in 1992. He was a Mason and member of the Red Jacket Lodge No. 646, and the American Legion. Bill was an avid sports fan, particularly of the Buffalo Bills. He also enjoyed automobiles, vintage racing at Watkins Glen, and jazz music.
    He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara; daughter, Susan; son, David; and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Nancy Young.
    Services will be held in Lockport, NY, at the convenience of the family at a later date.

    JAMES AUGUST GARDEI IS DEAD AT HIS HOME
    James August Gardei, age 35 years, died at his home, 69 FIrst avenue, yesterday morning about 11 o'clock as the result of an operation. Mr. Gardei was a prominent Democrat in the city, having been at one time a member of the Democratic county and city committees. Four years ago Mr. Gardei was secretary of the Board of Civil Service Commissioners. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America and of the Red Men. He was an exempt fireman and a member of the Volunteer Firemen's Benevolent Society. He was a charter member of the Sweeney Hose Company.
    Mr. Gardei is survied by a wife and three children, a mother, five brothers, Isaac, John, Herman, William of North Tonawanda and Louis of Washington, Pa., also five (sic) sisters, Mrs. Charles Boyer and Mrs. Alfred Martz of this city and Mrs. William Macdonald of Buffalo.
    The funeral will be held from the late residence on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Red Men will have charge of the ceremony, and Rev. Duncan Cameron will officiate. Interment will take place at Elmlawn cemetery.

    FOLLENDORF - Anna Gardei Follendorf, 82, this morning (March 10, 1956) at the Bethesda Home, Tonawanda. Born in the Town of Wheatfield, she had lived in North Tonawanda most of her life. She was a member of Friedens Church. Survivors include her two sons, Clarence A. Gardei of Lewisburg, Pa., and George D. Gardei of North Tonawanda; a daughter, Mrs. Howard C. Flanders of Lockport; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a brother, August Goerss of North Tonawanda; three step-sons, William, Fred, and Herman Follendorf, all of North Tonawanda, and a step-daughter, Mrs. Ida Runge of North Tonawanda. Friends may call at Hamp Funeral Home, 37 Adam St., Tonawanda, where services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, the Rev. Carl E. Berges officiating. Burial will be in Elmlawn Cemetery.
