    LYNDONVILLE, Sept. 13 - A 65-
    year-old retired coal dealer, Frank
    S. Barry, burned to death early
    today when fire of undetermined
    origin destroyed a two-story frame
    house on the farm of his son-in-law,
    Leonard Oakes. who lives east of
    this village.
    Mr; and Mrs. Oakes were in
    Troy wren the tragedy occurred.
    They drove there over the weekend
    to return their son, Barry, to
    college.
    The fire was discovered about
    1:30 this morning by a neighbor,
    Paul Parsons, who called the Lyndonville
    Fire Company. The struc-
    ture was a blazing inferno when
    firemen arrived.
    Mr. Barry's charred body was
    recovered by firemen about 3:30

    and Dr. David Fraser. Orleans
    County coroner. Issued a certificate
    of accidental death by burning.
    A native of Lyndonville whehe ne
    was born June 6, 1883, Mr. Barry
    was the oldest son of the late Newton
    and Flora Swain Barry- His
    wife, Mabel Baughn, died 10 years
    ago.
    Survivors, in addition to Mrs.
    Oakes, Include two daughters, Mrs.
    Rufus Caldwell, Lake Katonah.
    N.Y.. and Miss Bemardine Barry.
    Oceanslde, LI.', two brothers, Mark
    and Stanley Barry, both of Lyn-
    donville, and four grandchildren.

    Frank married VAUGHN, Mabel V on 27 Oct 1904. Mabel (daughter of VAUGHN, Russell and Theresa) was born about 1878 in Springville, Erie County, NY; died on 9 Sep 1935 in Lyndonville, Town of Yates, Orleans County, NY. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    LYNDONVILLE, Sept. 14-Mrs
    Mable Barry, 57, wife of Frank
    Barry, died Monday at their cottage
    at Shadlgee. She had been in falling
    health for some time She was born
    at Springvllle, a daughter of the late
    Russell and Theresa Vaughn.
    She was a graduate of Griffith's
    Institute and the old Buffalo Normal
    She was a former teacher in
    Lyndonville High school. She was
    married October 27, 1904.
    Besides her husband she lg survived
    by three daughters, Mrs Eloise
    Oakes, Bernadine and Ernestine at
    home and one sister Mrs Charles
    Plcknor of Mt, Kisco, N. Y.
    Funeral services were held Wednesday
    at 2:30 at the home Rev
    Frederick Mittlefehldt officiating
    Burial was in Lynhaven

    LYNDONVILLE. Dee. 12- Newton
    J. Barry. 80. director of the Citizens'
    State Bank of Lyndonville, died of
    a stroke today at his home, 112
    North Main street.
    Services will be held at the home
    at 2 30 Saturday, the Rev. W Edward
    Gill officiating Burial win be in
    Lvnhaven cemetery,
    Mr. Barry. son of the late Rich-
    ard and Mary Barry had been a
    lifelong resident of the Town of
    Yates and until his retirement five
    years ago he operated a produce
    business. He was a member of the
    Methodist church and had served
    on the village school board
    Three sons, Frank, Mark and
    Stanley Barry, four grandchildren,
    and five great-grandchildren,,
    and five great-grandchildren, all of
    Lyndonville, survive.

    Mrs. Folrence Swain Barry, 73,
    wife of Newton J. Barry died Sunday
    evening. She had been in poor
    health for some time. Funeral services
    were held Wednesday at 3:30
    with the Rev. Frederick Mlttlefehldt
    officiating and burial in
    Lynhaven.
    Mrs. Barry was one of the best

    known and highly respected women
    of this village. She was the
    daughter of the late Emily and
    Elethet Swain. She would have
    celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary
    October 23.
    She had been an active member
    of the Methodist church and Eastern
    Star for years. Besides her
    husband she Is survived by three
    sons, Frank, Mark and Stanley, all
    of this village, and seven grandchildren.
