    LOCKPORT-A seventeenyear-
    old L o c k p o r t High
    School senior, William Putnam,
    today lost his fight for
    life against cancer.
    His left leg was amputated
    earlier this year. A malignancy
    in the leg developed
    after an injury in the high
    school gymnasium. Wlliam
    underwent extensive surgery
    and hospitalization and appeared
    en route to recovery
    when complications set in
    seven weeks ago.
    He died this morning at
    Sisters Hospital in Buffalo.
    William was born.May 24,
    1945, the son of W. Herbert
    and Marie Bartenstein Putnam.
    He is survived by his
    parents, one sister, Judith
    Putnam; one brother, Donald
    Putnam, all of Lockport; his
    paternal grandparents, Mr.
    and Mrs. Henry Putnam and
    his.maternal grandmother,
    Mrs. Anna Bartenstein, air of
    Lockport.
    Keenly, interested in radio,
    William was a. licensed amateur
    radio operator : and: a
    member of the . Lockport
    Amateur Radio Club,
    Services will be held Saturday
    at-8:20 a.m. at the Taylor
    and Reynolds Funeral Home,
    foHowed by a Soemn Requiem
    Mass at St. Anthony's Roman
    Catholic Church at 9 a.m.
    Burial will be in St. Mary's
    Cemetery

    late Charles J. Bartenstein was held
    at 8:30 o'clock on Saturday morning.
    April 18th, 1953, at Taylor &
    Reynolds Funeral Home, and at 9:00
    o'clock at St. John's Church, the
    Rev. Francis Clancy officiating. The
    bearers were James Stevenson
    Charles Haubner, Harold Conlin
    Roger Criswell, Robert Bartenstein
    and LaVerne Bartenstein. interment
    was in St. Mary's Cemetery.

    tenstein, w i d o w of the late
    Charles J. Bartenstain, of 36 Orchard
    Street, passed away Sunday.
    July 10. 1966. at the Howell
    Nursing Home. She is survived
    by four daughters and one son,
    Mrs. Anna Dolphin. Mrs. Mildred
    Putnam. Mrs. Raymond
    (Gertrude) Hausauer. Mrs. Marie
    Putnam and Raymond C.
    Bartenstein, all of Lockport. N.
    Y.. also nine grandchildren,
    nine great ° grandchildren, and
    several nieces and nephews.
    Friends may call at the Funeral
    Home of Taylor Reynolds.
    Niagara at N o r t h Transit
    Street, where funeral services
    will be held at 8 30 o'clock
    Wednesday morning and 1:00
    o'clock at St. Mary's Church.
    Interment will be in St. Mary's
    Cemetery. The rosary will be
    recited at 8:00 o'clock Tuesday
    evening.
