Garrity, age 88, of the City of Tonawanda, died on Saturday, September 14, 2013, after a brief illness. Born in Tonawanda, NY to the late Richard J. and Whilamenna (Kohler) Garrity, he was a lifelong resident of the City of Tonawanda, and was the husband of Jessie A. (nee Ross) Garrity, who died in August of 2012. Thomas was a US Navy Veteran of WW II. He had been employed as a letter carrier for the City of Tonawanda for over 20 years, retiring in 1982. Thomas was a 60 plus-year member of Union Hook & Ladder Co. # 1, a member of the Tonawanda Historical Society, and a longtime member of Tonawanda United Methodist Church. He was also an avid golfer and and active bowler. He is survived by one daughter, Letetia (Mark) Dahlquist of Grand Island, NY; three grandchildren, Thomas (Grace) Dahlquist, James Dahlquist, and Nancy Dahlquist; one great-grandson, Henry Thomas Dahlquist; and is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late James, Richard, Margaret, Charles, Gladys, John, William, Catherine, Joseph, Robert, Elizabeth, and Etta. Family will receive friends on Monday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at JOHN O. ROTH FUNERAL HOME, INC., 25 William St. (Between Morgan & Broad Sts.) City of Tonawanda, where a Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 17th at 11 AM. Friends invited. Burial will be in Elmlawn Cemetery. CITY OF TONAWANDA — Jessie A. (nee Ross) Garrity, age 84, of the City of Tonawanda, Sunday, August 26, 2012, at Beechwood Continuing Care. A lifelong resident of the Tonawandas, she was the daughter of the late John S. and Lutetia Ross and was the sister of the late Florence, John, Iona, Samuel, Catherine, Dorothy, William, Anna and Janet. A 1946 graduate of North Tonawanda High School, she had been employed at both Remington Rand Corp and Riley Gear in North Tonawanda. Jessie was a longtime member of Tonawanda United Methodist Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed Square and Round dancing and was active in bowling and golfing.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Thomas E. Garrity; her daughter, Letetia (Mark) Dahlquist of Grand Island; three grandchildren, Thomas (Grace) Dahlquist, James Dahlquist and Nancy Dahlquist; and two sisters, Nancy Thorpe of Lockport and Marian (Leo) Ziegler of the Town of Tonawanda. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at John O. Roth Funeral Home, Inc., 25 William St. (between Morgan & Broad Sts.), in Tonawanda, where funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Thursday by the Rev. Dorothea Schweitzer. Burial will be in Elmlawn Cemetery.
