    AKRON - After a long illness,
    Mrs. Ethel J. Cummings, 55, of
    27 Hoag Ave., Akron, died Tuesday
    (Aug. 8, 1961) in Genesee
    Memorial Hospital in Batavia.
    Born in the Town of Newstead,
    Sept. 4, 1905 she was the daughter
    of Edwin and Julia E. Bates.
    Mrs. Cummings was a deaconness
    of the First Baptist Church
    of Akron and a member of the
    Akron Rebekah Lodge.
    Besides her husband. Earl J.
    Cummings, she is survived by
    three daughters, Mrs. Frederick
    Hensel of Corfu, Mrs. Raymond
    Schmigel and Mrs. Peter Knyter,
    both of Akron; five grandchildren;
    a sister, Mrs. Michael Pflieger of
    Lancaster; three brothers, Ever
    ett, and Erwin Bates of Akron;
    and the Rev. C. B. Bates of Ni
    agara Falls; and several nieces
    and nephews.
    Friends may call at the family
    residence at 27 Hoag Ave. Funeral
    services will be held at the First
    Baptist Church, Friday afternoon
    at 2, the Rev. Robert Wacker officiating.
    Burial will be in Evergreen
    Lawn Cemetery, Akron

    Akron, Sept. 14.--Relatives and
    friends frpm this village attended
    the funeral today at Rausomville of
    Mrs. Robert Clements, formerly Miss
    Grace Hates of this village. Mrs.
    Clements leaves her husband, a
    daughter, her mother, Mrs. Julia
    Bates of Akron; two sisters, Mrs.
    Roy Pfleiger and Ethel Bates of Ak-
    ron, and four brothers, the Rev. B.
    M. Bates of Allegany, Everett Bates
    of Hunts Corners and M. R. Bates
    and Erwin Bates of Akron. The fu-
    neral was held at the home. Burial
    was at Ransomville.
