BATT - Edward M. Batt, 92,
of 402 Broad St., Tonawanda,
unexpectedly, Tuesday (Nov. 4,
1969) at DeGraff Memorial
Hospital.
Born in North Tonawanda, he
had been a resident of the
Tonawandas all his life and had
been employed at Van Raalte
Silk Mill for more than 35 years
retiring 20 years ago. He was a
member of St. Francis of Assisi
Church and its Holy Name
society.
Survivors include his wife,
Augusta (nee Schmeichel) Batt;
a son, Edward H. Batt, and a
sister-in-law, Mrs. Leo (Marie)
Batt, both of Tonawanda; five
grandchildren and 10 great-
grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2 to 4
and 7 to 9 p.m. at John O. Roth
Funeral Home, Morgan and
William Streets, Tonawanda,
where prayers will be said at 9
a.m. Thursday followed by a
Requiem Mass at 9:30 a.m. in
St. Francis of Assisi Church.
The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Ralph M.
Miller will officiate. Burial in
Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

A trolley ride to Buffalo to see the sights at the
Pan American Exposition highlighted the honeymoon
trip of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Batt Sr. of 402 Broad
St., Tonawanda
They will celebrate their 60th
wedding anniversary Sunday.
The Tonawanda bride and her
North Tonawanda bridegroom
were married Oct 3, 1901 in Ascension
Church. Amid the well wishes
of friends and relatives,
they boarded the trolley for the
trolley-trip.
Mrs. Batt said today she doesn't
remember too much about the ex-
position except that it was won-
derful and exciting. she says she
is much more interested in her
plans for Sunday. She has chosen
a magenta wool dress to wear to
church and to an afternoon Open
House party. She will accent her
attire with a silver and white cor-
sage which will be presented to
her by her husband.
The couple will begin the day
by attending a High Mass at 10:30
a.m. in St. Francis Church where
both have been active many
years. Mrs. Batt presently serves
as vice president of the Altar So-
ciety and Mr. Batt is a member
of the Holy Name Society.
The afternoon party will be in
the Anerald Boat Club in Niagara
Street. Tonawanda.
Mrs. Batt. the former Augusta
Schmeichel, was reared in William
Street, Tonawand, and Mr.
Batt lived on Main Street in North
Tonawanda. After their marriage
they made their home in Tona-
wanda. Mr. Batt worked on the
docks and drove a laundry wagon
in the early days of their mar-
riage. Later he was employed at
Van Raalte for more than 30
years and retired in 1953. Mr.
Batt is a member of the GAR.
The couple had two children,
Edward Jr., and the late Leo 0.
Batt. They have five grandchildren:
Richard Batt, Mrs, Joan
Livingston Jr., Dean, Dennis and
John Batt. They also have seven
great-grandchildren.
Their friends and relatives are
invited to the Open House from 2
to 5 p.m.
