    Invitations have been issued by
    Mrs. Raymond M. Batt of Payne
    Ave. for the marriage of her
    daughter, Marilyn Hartnett, to
    Frederick W. Niland, son of Mr.
    and Mrs. Michael Niland of Elmwood
    Park. The wedding will be
    solemnized at 11 o'clock Satur-
    day morning June 5 in Ascension
    Church.
    Miss Batt has chosen her three
    sisters as attendants. Mrs. Thomas
    J. Feely of Andover, N. Y. will
    be matron of honor; Mrs. Arthur
    J. Ness of Wilson and Miss Marjorie
    Batt, bridesmaids.
    Edward Niland will be his
    brother's best man and Jeremiah
    Heffernan and John Brier of Buffalo
    will be ushers.
    Prenuptial parties have been
    given for the bride - elect. A variety
    shower was given by Miss

    Elizabeth Trumper of Buffalo on
    May 8; a dinner party by Mrs.
    Arthur Ness and Miss Marjorie
    Batt at Lakelands, Wilson on
    May 9; a variety shower by Mrs.
    James Laughton at her home,
    Niagara-on-the-Lake on May 15.
    Miss Barbara Mansfield of
    Whiting St. will entertain on Friday
    evening, May 21. Mrs. George
    Ray of Buffalo and Miss Mary
    Humphrey will compliment Miss
    Eatt at a linen shower on Saturday,
    May 22 at the Lockport
    Town and Country Club. On May
    26 Mrs. Russell Squelch will entertain
    former classmates of
    D'Youville College.
    Mrs. Stephen Elggren of Buffalo
    previously entertained at a
    luncheon and personal shower for
    Miss Batt.

    The altars of Ascension Church were banked with

    flowers and branch candelabra this morning at 11 o clotk
    when Miss Marilyn Harnett Batt, daughter of Mrs. Raymond
    M. Batt of Payne Ave. and the late Raymond M Batt and
    Frederick W. Niland, son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael C. Niland
    of Elmwood Park, were united in marriage. The Rt. Rev.
    Msgr. John A. Weismantel of St. Francis Church performed
    the ceremony and the nuptial mass was read by Rev. Francis
    Hunt, pastor of Ascension Church.
    The bride was gowned in petal-
    pink pure silk crepe made with a
    fitted bodice, deep square neck-
    line, long sleeves with points
    over the hand and a flowing
    skirt which fell into a long train.
    She wore a halo headdress of
    pink velvet adorned with pink
    rose buds and cornflowers, the
    velvet falling into long streamers
    caught with the cornflowers. She
    carried a Colonial bouquet of
    pink rose buds and blue corn-
    flowers.
    The bride was attended by her
    sisters, Mrs. thomas Feeley of
    Andover, N.Y., as matron-of-
    honor; Miss Marjorie Batt and
    Mrs. Arthur Ness, bridesmaids.
    They were gowned alike in hea-
    venly blye silk crepe dresses made
    on simple lines with fitted bodi-
    ces, square necklines and long
    sleeves. they wore large leghorn
    hats with blue streamers and
    carried French lilacs.
    Edward Niland was best man
    for his brother and Jeremiah Hef-
    fernan and Joseph Brier were
    ushers.
    The bride's mother wore a
    beige crepe suit and Milan straw
    hat trimmed with pink roses and
    apple-green veilling. Green ac-
    cessories and a corsage of gar-
    denias and small pink rosebuds
    competed her costume. A grey
    sheer crepe dress with black
    accessories and a corsage of pink
    sweetpeas weree worn by the
    bridegroom's mother.
    A wedding breakfast was serv-
    ed at Hotel Weatbrook, Bufflao,
    for the immediate families and a
    few close friends.
    The couple will reside in Wash-
    ington, D. C.. where Mr. Niland
    is attending the School of Dentis-
    try at Georgetown University.

    Raymond M. Batt 39 vears old. a'
    well known resident of the Tonawan-
    das, died this morning at his home
    in 78 Payne avenue, following a long
    illness. He was a partner in Batt
    Bros Lumber Co., of North Tonawan
    da.
    Mr. Batt was a graduate of North
    Tonawanda high school and Columbia
    University. He was a member of Phi
    Delta Kappa fraternity, a charter
    member of the Newman club of New
    York city and a member of North
    Tonawanda lodge. No. 860. B.P.O.E.
    Death was due to pernicious anemia
    with which he was stricken a year
    and a half ago. For nine months he
    was at Mayo Brothers sanitarium at
    Rochester. .Minn He returned from
    there last September and seemed to
    be improving. Two weeks ago, his
    condition changed and he became
    steadily worse until death occurred
    today.
    Surviving are a wife and four daugh-
    ters.-Kathleen. Majorie. Mary Helen
    and Marilyn; one brother. Norbert J.
    Batt of this city; four sisters. Mrs.
    John V. Nuwer and Mrs. Hiram K.
    Hankin ot Buffalo. Mrs. James P. Mis-
    ner and Miss Adelaide E. Batt of
    North Tonawanda.
    Funeral services will be held Mon-
    day morning at 8:30 o'clock from the
    family residence and at 9 o'clock at
    Asceasion church, Rev. J. F. Kelly
    officiating. Burial will be in Mt.
    Olivet.

    BATT - May (nee Hartnett) Batt
    of North Tonawanda, Sunday (September
    3,1984) after a brief illness.
    A lifelong resident of North Tonawamfc,
    Mrs. Batt was a charter
    member of the Women's Auxiliary
    to DeGraff Memorial Hospital and a
    member of the Y.W.C.A. Leisure
    Club and the Ladies of Chanty She
    was the wife of the late Raymond M.
    Batt and mother of the late Mrs.
    Thomas (Maryhelen) Feeley.
    She is survived by three daughters,
    Mrs. Arthur (Kathleen) Ness of
    Wilson, NY., Marjorie M. Batt of
    North Tonawanda and Mrs
    Frederick (Marilyn) Niland of Anchorage,
    Alaska, also surviving are
    five grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren.
    Funeral services will be private at
    the convenience of the family
    Friends are invited to attend a
    Memorial Mass on Friday (Sept.
    7th) at 11 a.m. at Ascension R.C.
    Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials
    to the Y.W.C.A. in North Tona
    wanda are preferred by the family

    Home, Inc., Tonawanda.

    North Tonawanda, Jan. 12 (Special).-
    The funeral of the late Michael Batt,
    who died on Wednesday nlght at his
    home at No 348 Goundry street, will
    be held from the Ascension church on
    Robinson street tomorrow morning.
    Solemn high mass will be sung by
    Father J. F. Kelly. Burial will be
    made In Mount Olivet cemetery. Tona-
    wanda.

    Michael Batt, 58 years old. of No.
    246 Goundry street, one of the oldest
    and best known business men in
    the Tonawandas, passed away at his
    last night after a lingering ili-
    ness. The deceased was born in
    Williamsville, N Y., in 1853 and
    came to North Tonawanda with his
    parents to live. In 1868. He engaged
    in the manufacture of shingles and
    was a member of the J. S. Bliss
    Shingle Company for many years.
    When the Bliss mill was abandoned.
    Mr. Batt retired, devoting his time
    to looking after his property holdings
    in the Tonawandas.
    Mr. Batt is survived by h i s widow,
    four daughters, Mrs. John E. Nuwer
    and Mrs. H. R. Hankin of Buffalo;
    the Misses Gertrude and Adelaide
    Batt of North Tonawanda; and three
    sons: Norbert Batt of Batavia, Raymond
    Batt of Columbus, O., and Iren-
    us Batt of Pittsburg, Pa.; t w o sisters,
    Mrs. Bessie Diehl and Miss Kate
    Batt of Williamsville, N. Y.; three
    brothers, John Batt, superintendent
    of the water • works of North Tona-
    wanda, Frank and George Batt of
    North Tonawanda. The funeral will
    be held from the Ascension Church
    In Robinson street, Saturday morn-
    ing at 9:30 o'clock.

    Mrs. Gertrude J. Batt. 68 years old,
    died suddenly yesterday afternoon at
    her home, 268 Summit avenue, Buffalo.
    Death was due to a stroke of apoplexy.
    Mrs, Batt was in good health up to
    the time she was stricken.
    She was the mother of Mrs. J. Nuwer,
    Mrs. H. R. Hankin and Miss Adelaide
    Batt of Buffalo, Mrs. James V.
    Misner. Norbert and Raymond Batt of
    North Tonawanda, and 11 grandchildren;
    sister of Sister DePazzi, Sister
    Delphina and Sister Philomena of Buffalo;
    Mathilda A. Daul and Eugene
    Daul of North Tonawanda and George
    Daul of Niagara Falls.
    Mrs. Batt was born in Williamsville
    and moved to the Tonawaudas in
    1872. She resided here until three
    years ago, when she moved to Buffalo.
    The funeral will be hold from the
    late residence Friday morning at
    nine o'clock and from St. Mark's
    church, Buffalo at 9:30. Burial will
    be in Mt. Olivet. Mrs. Batt was the
    wife of the late Michael Batt of North
    Tonawanda.
